The BAE Systems Combat Vehicles site in York, Pennsylvania is seeking a Weld Engineer.
This role is specific to fabrication (welding and drilling) at our York, PA facility. Welding Engineers are the subject matter experts of the weld code and problem solvers to technical production barriers. We are responsible for ensuring technical compliance to the weld code, welding procedures and policy procedures. We provide guidance to the greater teams ensuring customer, company, quality, and regulatory requirements are met. This position supports 1st Shift.

Full-Time Salary Range: $70735 - $120250

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.

As a Weld Engineer, you will...
- Develop Non-Standard Repair instructions as they may apply in production.
- Engage in customer discussions.
- Define and develop welding procedures as they relate to production needs.
- Recommend process changes and implement process improvements.
- Prepare and conduct weld engineering evaluation of materials and work instruction procedures to build the product.
- Use knowledge of metallurgy, material weldability, manual machine operation, and weld machines.
- Review supplier welding procedures IAW contractual requirements.
- Review detailed production documentation to provide acceptable product and process work instructions.
- Develop or contribute to the creation of welding standards and specifications.
- Work with engineering to support Vendor Information Requests (VIRs).
- Create and Assist contractual deliverables.
- Be responsible for ensuring requirements are met throughout the AMPV Value Stream.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 2 years work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Expert knowledge of concepts, practices, drawing standards and procedures of Weld Engineering processes.
- Experience working with current computer applications, CAD programs, and model manipulation.
- Possesses knowledge of equipment and technologies relevant to welding, weld engineering, and manual machine operation.
- Possesses the knowledge to solve complex technical problems
- Need to work well in a team environment.
- Will be required to work with customer (both internal and external).
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Certification with AWS (American Weld Society) as a CWI (Certified Weld Inspector)
- Experience with DoD Welding Standards
- Bachelor's degree in Weld Engineering
