About the team

The Web Presence team is a hybrid group of designers and engineers who are responsible for delivering high-quality web experiences that support HashiCorp’s go-to-market efforts. This includes various websites like www.hashicorp.com, developer.hashicorp.com, and more. For many of HashiCorp’s customers and users, the Web Presence team delivers their first experience with the company, and so it’s crucial we set high standards.

We are looking for a web engineer to join the team working on hashicorp.com and directly contribute to our CMS and frontend stack. Our web experience is our most important tool to tell a cohesive and clear story about our product and company.
We partner with Marketing, Design, and various other stakeholders to shape the user journey and build out experiences that delight our visitors.  We look for opportunities that enrich our go-to-market strategies that directly contribute to our sales pipeline, product adoption, and revenue.

What you’ll do (responsibilities)

  • Contribute maintainable, well-tested, accessible, and well-documented code to the repositories and systems that power HashiCorp’s website.
  • Collaborate closely with teammates in engineering, design, and marketing to build high-quality web experiences.
  • Participate in code reviews and team pairing sessions to learn from and support your peers.
  • Independently and collaboratively identify user (both internal and external) problems and advocate for pragmatic, iterative solutions through prototypes and written proposals.
  • Collaborate in product discovery and early design to assess technical feasibility.
  • In close step with designers, execute front-end projects with meticulous polish.
  • Communicate technical opinions and project rationale to other engineers and leadership.
  • Take part in project planning, check-ins, and retrospectives to stay aligned with the team’s goals and priorities.
  • During execution, work ‘in the open’, sharing your thoughts, ideas, progress, blockers, and code freely with others on the team.

What you’ll need (basic qualifications)

  • 2+ years of web development experience, with an emphasis on the front-end.
  • Experience with React and familiarity with Node.js and TypeScript.
  • Fluency with HTML, CSS, and modern JavaScript standards.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with modern digital design and prototyping tools (like Figma).
  • Experience and comfort with Git and version control.
  • Experience working with REST APIs and/or GraphQL.
  • A strong desire to learn from others and grow as an engineer.
  • Good communication skills - you enjoy asking questions, documenting your work, and learning from feedback.

What's nice to have (preferred qualifications)

  • Experience with Next.js and the Vercel platform.
  • Experience working with Design Systems.
  • Experience with unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
  • Experience working with a headless CMS.
  • Understanding of web accessibility standards and inclusive design principles, including a basic understanding of WCAG 2.2 Level AA accessibility standards.
