The Web Team is a highly visible developer team making a significant impact on HubSpot and its digital presence. Responsible for creating innovative digital solutions to advance the HubSpot brand, the team’s work is seen by millions globally. Located within Marketing, this creative team partners closely with designers, marketers, and producers, among others, within HubSpot to develop sites, applications, and great user experiences. We are on a mission to build the best web experience in the world.

HubSpot is looking for a Web Development Manager to lead our new DX-AI (Digital Experience – AI) team within the Marketing Web Development organization. This hybrid team of four AI-focused engineers and four front-end developers is dedicated to integrating AI into HubSpot’s web experiences and implementing Marketing microapps and AEO solutions for our Global Growth team. The DX-AI team focuses on leveraging third-party LLMs, maintaining GenAI-powered search features, managing LLM proxy infrastructure in partnership with DevOps, and internal tools that enhance content generation, automation, and developer workflows.

This is not a machine learning or model-building role; the emphasis is on application development, integration, and enablement using existing AI models and services.

In this role, you’ll focus on:Delivering AI-Powered Digital Solutions
  • Leverage third-party large language model (LLM) APIs (for example, OpenAI, Anthropic, Perplexity, and Gemini) to build and maintain AI-powered features across HubSpot.com and other high-traffic web properties.
  • Support and enhance generative AI search capabilities to deliver smarter, more personalized content discovery on our websites.
  • Drive the continued evolution of AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) across HubSpot.com, using AI-driven systems to improve content visibility, performance, and discoverability in AI-powered search environments.
  • Ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of AI-driven features by managing LLM proxy traffic in partnership with our DevOps team, monitoring usage metrics, and maintaining robust application security.
  • Build and support internal tools for content generation and automation, streamlining marketing workflows and improving efficiency.
  • Establish frameworks and best practices for rapid prototyping and documentation of AI-driven tools.
  • Integrate and help guide ongoing efficiencies around AI-enhanced developer tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot into the web development workflow to boost team productivity and code quality.
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of AI and microapp projects, including scoping, experimentation, technical design, implementation, and measurement.
  • Ensure compliance with data security and privacy guidelines when integrating third-party AI services.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to align AI capabilities with Marketing and SEO/AEO goals.
Developing the Team
  • Foster an inclusive environment for brainstorming, ideation, and creating best-in-class digital experiences using AI.
  • Empower and mentor a hardworking hybrid team of AI specialists and front-end developers across skill levels, helping front-end developers grow their back-end skills through hands-on project support.
  • Be a team advocate, helping team members identify opportunities to further their careers. Coach and mentor team members in LLM prompting, agent design, RAG systems, API integrations, and AI application architecture.
  • Conduct one-on-ones and performance reviews with team members to facilitate their ongoing development.
  • Contribute to a unique global team culture that encourages innovation, curiosity, and continuous learning.
We are looking for people who have:
  • Ideally, 2+ years of experience managing an engineering/ development team (not just mentoring them), with a total of 8+ years of experience as a senior-level engineer/developer with production experience using modern technologies such as Node.js, cloud services (AWS or GCP), APIs, serverless architectures, CI/CD pipelines, and testing best practices.
  • Proven success in building, motivating, and retaining high-performance development teams.
  • Hands-on experience integrating third-party APIs or services into web applications, especially AI-driven or LLM-based services.
  • Experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies.
  • Great communication skills & ability to partner with non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience recruiting, interviewing, and hiring technical candidates.
  • Ability to empower teammates, cultivate innovative solutions, and enhance team culture.
  • Strong knowledge of web development and source code management best practices.
  • Adaptability and a desire to take on multiple projects at a time.
  • Awareness of the evolving digital landscape and emerging AI technologies.
  • Familiarity with responsible AI principles and ethical considerations in AI-assisted experiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively across teams and departments.
  • Previous experience managing remote and international team members.
  • Interest in emerging AI developer ecosystems and a willingness to experiment with new tools and frameworks to drive innovation.
  • Experience with QA processes and automation.
Nice to Haves:
  • Experience with the HubSpot CMS.
  • Understanding of SEO or AEO (AI-Enhanced Optimization) principles and how AI-driven search impacts content visibility and ranking.
  • Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools (Grafana, or CloudWatch) to track system health and performance of AI services.
