The Web Designer is responsible for both the design and front-end development of OpenSesame’s website and related digital experiences. You will design, build, and maintain web pages that engage visitors, reflect our brand identity, and support marketing campaigns that drive growth. This role ensures that our visitors and customers have the best possible experience on our website through optimization efforts, UI/UX strategy, and ongoing design and development projects.

As a key member of the Marketing team, the Web Designer owns the design, development, and ongoing evolution of OpenSesame.com. Our website is the front door to our business—and this role ensures every interaction reflects our brand promise of innovation, clarity, and quality.
About the Job
The Web Designer is responsible for the end-to-end design, development, and optimization of OpenSesame’s website and related digital experiences. You will own both the creative and technical implementation of our web presence—designing, coding, testing, and maintaining pages that represent our brand and support marketing initiatives.
This role blends visual design, front-end development, and user experience expertise. The ideal candidate has strong creative instincts, technical ability, and a data-informed mindset—someone who can transform business needs into compelling, functional web experiences that drive engagement and conversion.
Performance Objectives
30 Days
- Complete OpenSesame onboarding and develop a strong understanding of our brand, design systems, and website infrastructure.
- Audit the current website to identify visual, functional, and performance improvement opportunities.
- Establish ownership of the OpenSesame.com WordPress or Webflow environment and gain full proficiency in managing site content, templates, and code.
- Deliver your first design and development update—such as improving navigation, updating a layout, or enhancing mobile responsiveness.
- Define and document the process for submitting, prioritizing, and delivering Marketing web requests.
60 Days
- Design and build at least one new marketing landing page or microsite from concept through deployment.
- Create reusable templates and components to improve design efficiency and visual consistency across web properties.
- Implement design and code updates that improve accessibility, responsiveness, and overall site performance.
- Introduce analytics and testing frameworks (e.g., GA4, Hotjar, A/B testing) to collect and interpret user data for design decisions.
- Launch measurable site improvements—such as reducing load time, improving accessibility scores, or increasing engagement on key pages.
90 Days
- Lead a full redesign or refresh of a key section of OpenSesame.com, improving both the visual design and user experience.
- Establish a design system and front-end standards documentation to ensure consistency and scalability across future projects.
- Create and maintain a roadmap for ongoing site optimization aligned with Marketing campaigns and business goals.
- Analyze performance metrics to evaluate the impact of design and development changes, presenting findings and recommendations to the Marketing team.
- Build a sustainable process for testing, iterating, and deploying updates independently while maintaining a high standard of quality and brand alignment.

Location: This position can be based anywhere in the US. We operate as a remote-first company, and invest in all-company meetings several times a year.
Performance Driven: We're looking for self-starters with a track record of delivering excellent results, but we're highly selective about who we hire. We don't focus on typical job requirements, instead, we're interested in specific examples from your past experiences. All positions can be based anywhere in the US, and require up to 15 days of travel per year, with senior management and leadership teams requiring up to 35 days.
Compensation: The pay range for this position is generally between $130,000 - $145,000 per year and depends on experience.
