Wealth Management Associate
The Wealth Management Associate is responsible for supporting advisor growth across annuity, advisory,
and emerging affluent client segments by providing internal wholesaling, planning strategy support, and case
qualification. This role partners closely with Advisors, the Wealth Management team, the Case Design team,
and Home Oice partners to promote consistent, planning-based advisory practices and the effective use of
approved wealth management platforms and solutions across the agency.
The position reports to the Director of Wealth Management, is classified as exempt, and is a
recommended mid-level role within the agency’s wealth management support structure. The role is
non-client-facing and non-executional, with a focus on advisor enablement, escalation of higher-complexity
opportunities, and advancement of the agency’s wealth management growth objectives.
Advisor Strategy & Internal Wholesaling
· Serve as an internal wholesaling and strategy resource for advisors across experience
levels, with emphasis on:
Early to mid-tenure advisors expanding into advisory and planning-based practices
Advisors moving from basic accumulation to more sophisticated retirement and
affluent conversations
Responsibilities include:
- Leading advisor conversations around
- Planning-first client engagement
- Advisory vs. transactional positioning
- Investment strategy intent (not product-only discussions)
- Supporting advisor segmentation and prioritization of client opportunities
- Annuity & Retirement Planning Support
Part of annuities and retirement-income positioning as a core planning component,
including:
- Fixed annuities
- Fixed Indexed Annuities (FIAs)
- Variable Annuities (proprietary and non-proprietary)
Support advisors in:
- Identifying appropriate annuity use cases for:
- Income planning
- Principal protection
- Conservative growth
Positioning annuities within a holistic financial plan, not as standalone products
- Advisory Platform & Basic Investment Design Support
- Support advisors in understanding and using MML Investors Services (MMLIS) advisory
platforms, including: - Advisory vs. brokerage frameworks
- Basic asset allocation concepts
- Model-based and program-level advisory solutions
- Account types (taxable, qualified, retirement-focused)
Provide working knowledge of advisory fee structures, including:
- How fees are charged and disclosed
- How to position fees in value-based conversations
- When fee complexity, asset scale, or planning needs require escalation
- Collaboration & Advisor Development
Work closely with:
- Director / Head of Wealth Management
- Case Design Team
- Insurance specialists
- New Advisor Development
Provide support through:
- Advisor onboarding sessions
- Study groups and training forums
Ongoing education tied to:
- Investment concepts
- Annuity strategies
- Planning conversations
- Continuous development toward deeper investment and advisory expertise
Qualifications
Required
· FINRA licenses preferred: Series 6/63/65 or 7/66
· 3–7 years of experience in:
- Wealth management
- Advisor support
- Internal wholesaling
- Financial services sales or planning support
· Comfort leading advisor strategy conversations independently
Preferred
· Experience supporting annuities and advisory platforms
· Exposure to basic financial planning tools and concepts
· Interest in progressing toward senior wealth strategy or leadership roles
