OneMain Financial is seeking a Vice President, Director for Release & Site Reliability Engineering.  As OneMain expands its market verticals, a multi-product strategy is evolving to penetrate markets through compelling customer engagement. Correspondingly, teams deliver products across a variety of platforms and technologies. Our products span AWS, IBM iSeries and zSeries (for our core lending systems), and OpenShift on-prem as part of our hybrid strategy. With both disparate technology delivery and varying regulatory requirements, OneMain’s environment is both complex and evolving, supporting a broadening multi-product, multi-market strategy.

The VP Director will establish a release and site engineering practice, hiring and leading a group of senior engineers to build and maintain highly available production systems, replacing all manual processes with automation to reduce redundancy of effort. They will establish SLOs and SLAs to measure production systems uptime and health using metrics to drive continuous improvement.

They will also lead OneMain’s efforts to build highly reliable and repeatable pipelines for products composed across platforms and spanning hybrid environments. Software deployments will be performed through clearly defined strategies for configuration management, risk mitigation, and rollout.  They will collaborate with the enterprise monitoring team to apply a standard approach to observability, self-healing, and vulnerability management driving reliability across the development lifecycle.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead a team of senior DevOps engineers to mature release and site reliability engineering. Team members are embedded in development teams and drive capability across the organization.
  • Maintain scalable and reliable infrastructure to support DevOps CI/CD Platform. Manage large-scale implementations of Source Code Management solutions (SCM) and Code Management Systems (CMS).

[Release Engineering]

  • Establish releases as engineering products that are managed through a creation lifecycle (from planning to production) and span platforms and technology stacks.
  • Mature OneMain’s release capability to a fully transparent, repeatable process which can create and recreate composite systems.
  • Define and implement best practices for release identification and representation, branching strategies, deployment strategies, configuration and artifact management tools. Ensure artifacts are released using consistent and repeatable methods.

[Site Reliability Engineering]

  • Apply SRE principles to improve system reliability, scalability, and performance. Implement operational improvements to ensure high availability, low latency and optimal performance.
  • Conduct performance tuning, capacity planning, and system optimization to meet service level objectives (SLOs).
  • Drive security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration tests.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA/BS degree in computer science, engineering, or related field; advanced degree desired. Preferred AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional Certification.
  • 8+ years working with public cloud services providers specifically AWS – as a consumption of platform services and automation and scaling of services.
  • Experience working with a wide range of open-source tools and distribution engines
  • Strong engineering, communication, operational, and organizational skills. Proven ability to recruit, motivate and mentor geographically distributed high-performing teams.
  • Experienced in streamlining and modernizing OnPrem data centers by adopting a unified DevOps approach across the public and private cloud with containerization and infrastructure as code.
  • Strong troubleshooting and process management skills.
  • Demonstrated success leading to large-scale initiatives/transformations.

Location: Baltimore, MD, Charlotte, NC, Wilmington, DE or Irving, TX.
