Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provides management support for the reconciliation process and guidance to team members and/or other colleagues in various locations to ensure the quality of data provided to the investment team and various other users of this information.

  • Functions as the primary escalation contact with trustees and agent banks in relation to issues and resolution of problematic discrepancies with custodians, trustees, agent banks, and/or counterparties.

  • Liaises with traders and other front office stakeholders to resolve trade issues and/or trade discrepancies.

  • Analyses and oversees the processing of complex restructures including multi-currency rebuilds, defaults, and extensions.

  • Evaluates process effectiveness, plans, coordinates, and implements enhancements.

  • Deep understanding of credit and alternative assets lifecycle and mechanics.

  • Monitors maintenance and controls of all credit and alternative investments activity (e.g., interest rate resets, principal repayments, principal drawdowns, margin changes) across all systems.

  • Oversees WSO data and transaction discrepancies and liaises and escalates with the service provider to resolve issues.

  • Manages the oversight of cash/currency positions and assesses potential FX spot and forward adjustments and communicates to the front office as appropriate.

  • Reviews and provides operational reporting approvals for internal and external reports, including compliance and management reporting.

  • Monitors the delivery of daily cashflow projections to portfolio managers, analysts, and Operations.

  • Demonstrates strong management skills including delivering regular ongoing team feedback through one-on-ones, quarterly discussions, and performance reviews; provides compensation recommendations.

  • Assesses and addresses training needs of staff in current and future-state assets and systems.

  • Participates in all aspects of the talent cycle, including determining staffing requirements, recruitment, and employee development.

  • Responsible for assessing issues, identifying resolutions/alternatives, providing/implementing recommendations, and prioritizing business needs for daily BAU activities.

  • Ensures documentation of process requirements and updating of procedures for settlement, restructuring, cash, data, liquidations, closing, and onboarding for credit and alternative investments operations.

  • Acts as a leader in transformation and change by actively leading and/or participating in projects to help the team increase efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Assists with the creation, tracking, and reporting of metrics for the Trade & Closing Operations team.

  • University (Degree) Preferred

Nuveen is looking for a VP, Trade & Closing Operations Manager to lead a growing team responsible for credit restructuring, amendments, ClearPar, distressed loan/equity closing, and private asset structure setup. This is a dynamic management role with no typical day-to-day routine, it evolves constantly based on the needs of the business.

Required Skills:

  • 5 or more years of experience managing credit and alternative assets life cycle and mechanics.

  • Extensive understanding of systems flow & capabilities (WSO, Bloomberg AIM, CRD)

Base Pay Range: $165,000/yr - $280,000/yr

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.  In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
