Role Summary
The VP of Sales, Public Sector (Americas) will lead Sophos’ go-to-market strategy, revenue execution, and customer expansion across the US Public Sector, covering State & Local Government (SLG), Education (K–12 and Higher Ed), and Federal. This role oversees a high-performing team of ~20 sellers and leaders across the Americas and is accountable for driving ARR growth and channel ecosystem, and strengthening Sophos’ competitive position in the cybersecurity public sector market.
Reporting directly to the SVP of Sales (Americas), the VP will collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Channel, Product, Legal, Finance, and Customer Success to build a repeatable, data-driven public sector sales engine.
What You Will Do
- Leadership & Strategy
- Own the Americas Public Sector GTM strategy.
- Lead, scale, and mentor a team of 20+ sales leaders and account executives across the region.
- Drive annual planning, forecasting, segmentation, and territory management.
- Revenue Execution
- Deliver consistent ARR and net-new growth.
- Oversee full sales cycle and ensure disciplined forecast accuracy.
- GTM & Market Expansion
- Build tailored strategies for SLED, higher education, and selective Federal.
- Strengthen relationships with state CIOs, education buyers, and key influencers.
- Team Development
- Build a high-performance sales culture.
- Hire, coach, and retain public sector sales talent.
- Cross-Functional Partnership
- Work with Product, Legal, Marketing, Finance, and Customer Success to support public sector strategies.
What You Will Bring
- 15+ years of progressive sales leadership experience in cybersecurity, SaaS, or enterprise software.
- Deep domain expertise across State & Local Government, Education, and some Federal exposure.
- Experience managing large distributed sales teams (15–30+ people).
- Strong understanding of public sector procurement and contracting.
- Demonstrated ability to work with MSPs, MSSPs, and channel partners.
- Exceptional executive presence and communication skills.
In the United States, the base salary for this role ranges from $193,000 to $322,000. In addition to the base salary, there's a component for target sales commissions alongside a comprehensive benefits package. A candidate’s specific pay within this range will depend on a variety of factors, including job-related skills, training, location, experience, relevant education, certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
