Job Description:

Purpose:

The VP of Product Strategy & Enablement is a strategic leadership role responsible for owning the full lifecycle of our mortgage products — from inventory and documentation to training, marketing, and future-state system integration. This leader will drive product adoption, expand market utilization, and ensure our offerings align with business goals and field-level needs.

Leveraging a strong background in underwriting, this individual will also serve as a critical bridge between Product and Underwriting, ensuring alignment of credit policy, execution, and product applicability. Additionally, this role will play a key part in our technological evolution, supporting the engineering and implementation of products in new operating systems and the Pricing & Product Engine (PPE).

Duties and Responsibilities:

Product Ownership & Strategy

  • Own and manage the complete lifecycle of all current mortgage products.

  • Conduct a detailed audit of product availability, usage, and documentation.

  • Lead the development and ongoing refinement of internal product collateral, documentation, and access tools.

  • Identify underutilized products and develop strategies to increase adoption.

Sales Collaboration & Market Expansion

  • Partner with sales leaders, branch managers, and loan officers to demonstrate how products can unlock business opportunities in new markets and with new referral partners.

  • Serve as a strategic advisor on product positioning and field enablement.

  • Monitor and capture field feedback to influence product evolution and training needs.

Training, Marketing & Field Enablement

  • Lead the creation and delivery of comprehensive product training, in partnership with Training and Sales Enablement teams.

  • Align with Marketing to ensure products are promoted effectively, both internally and externally.

  • Build scalable tools and campaigns to reinforce understanding and usage of available products.

Product Development & Innovation

  • Identify market gaps and emerging borrower needs to inform product enhancement or creation.

  • Partner with Capital Markets, investor relations, and financial institutions to bring new products to life.

  • Evaluate and onboard new investor products, ensuring they meet credit, pricing, and operational requirements.

Product Implementation in Systems (OS & PPE)

  • Actively support the integration of product strategy into the future-state Loan Operating System and PPE.

  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Secondary teams to ensure product rules, eligibility logic, pricing, and workflows are correctly engineered and tested.

  • Provide field-level insights during configuration and user testing phases.

Underwriting Bridge & Partnership

  • Maintain a close connection with the Underwriting leadership team to align on credit policy and product fit.

  • Act as a liaison between Product and Underwriting to ensure guidelines and execution remain consistent and scalable.

  • Identify opportunities to streamline communication, address field escalations, and proactively close any product-related underwriting gaps.

Product Rollout Leadership

  • Own the cross-functional rollout of new products, working in lockstep with Secondary, Operations, Underwriting, Sales, and Training.

  • Define rollout timelines, success metrics, and adoption tracking.

Requirements:

  • Proven mortgage product leadership with deep understanding of underwriting principles and credit policy.

  • Experience developing and delivering training and enablement programs for sales.

  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, especially with Operations, Underwriting, and Tech teams.

  • Familiarity with PPE platforms and LOS implementations is a plus.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • In office or remote

  • Flexibility to work extended hours during peak business periods or to meet project deadlines.
