Job Description:
The VP, Product Management, NGO role will lead the product strategy and execution for NextGen Office (NGO), our EHR and Practice Management platform designed for small-market ambulatory healthcare organizations. Overseeing a dedicated team of product managers and responsible for driving strategic growth, customer retention, and cost optimization. This role will collaborate closely with engineering, sales, client success, and support teams to align on the product roadmap, resolve key issues, and ensure a seamless customer experience. Additionally, you’ll play a key role in evaluating M&A and partnership opportunities, managing the full product lifecycle, and contributing to company-wide transformation efforts aimed at delivering high-impact, customer-centric solutions.- Define and execute the product strategy and roadmap for the NextGen Office (NGO) platform, aligning with customer and market needs, as well as company-wide portfolio goals and financial targets (P&L, revenue, cost efficiency).
- Drive end-to-end product lifecycle management, including roadmap planning, product development, commercialization, and sunset decisions, with a focus on delivering value in small-market ambulatory healthcare.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, design, marketing, sales, client success, and support to prioritize backlogs, deliver product releases, and ensure alignment on roadmap, issue resolution, and go-to-market plans.
- Work closely with the Chief Product Officer (CPO) and other senior leaders to develop strategic plans for growth, including build vs. buy analysis, legacy system enhancements, and alignment with broader business transformation efforts.
- Lead M&A and strategic partnership evaluations by contributing market insight, assessing product fit, and supporting partner negotiations and integration planning.
- Ensure regulatory compliance by managing timelines and requirements specific to NextGen Office, in coordination with internal compliance and legal teams.
- Analyze customer and market intelligence—including competitive positioning, partner dynamics, integration needs, and user feedback—to inform roadmap decisions and differentiate the NGO product.
- Track and improve key product performance metrics, such as patient adoption, usability, satisfaction, and engagement, and using data to guide continuous improvement.
- Build, lead, and mentor a team of product managers, while also serving as a facilitator among internal stakeholders to drive shared understanding, accountability, and high-impact delivery.
- Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare, Healthcare Administration, business, software engineering discipline, or a related field. An advanced degree is highly desirable.
- Or, any combination of education and experience which would provide the required qualifications for the position.
- 12+ years of experience in a product management role in a large-scale commercial software environment.
- Healthcare/healthcare IT industry experience in either an Ambulatory or Acute Healthcare environment, with small market ambulatory experience preferred.
- Strong expertise in managing product development cycles, and proven track record of bringing to market complex solutions targeted towards the small market ambulatory space.
- Experience writing business cases, performing market analysis, developing go-to-market strategies, and managing backlogs for solutions across multiple markets.
- Significant general management and P&L experience. Financial savvy, aligning product strategy with company financial goals, including cost management, revenue growth, and margin improvement.
- Experience navigating complex situations and managing multiple stakeholders with diverse priorities to achieve consensus.
- Experience in a private equity-owned company preferred, especially in a growth-focused environment.
- Knowledge of: Minimum Viable Product (MVP) concept and Agile development process; Product Lifecycle practices. Deep understanding of EHR and practice management technology, the small-market ambulatory market, product management best practices, and have a passion for improving patient care.
- Skill in: Leadership, communication, executive level presentation, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to: Define and manage complex process, workflows, and product issues; develop compelling product vision and drive product to successful execution; lead and motivate a team of professionals in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment; drive strategy, development, and execution of product deliverables in a timely manner; work on concurrent projects with critical/urgent timelines; disseminate product concepts, updates, and deliverables; establish and maintain effective working relationships through collaboration and respect.
