Position Overview

The VP of Finance will serve as the company’s senior financial leader and strategic partner to the CEO and leadership team.  This is a hand on, builder role responsible for owning and scaling all financial operations, supporting rapid growth, and ensuring regulatory and investor readiness, and building a world class finance function.

This leader must be equally comfortable in the wees and at the board table, able to drive FP&A, budgeting, and modeling while also building systems, managing audits, leading capital strategy, and scaling infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Financial Strategy, FP&A Modeling
    1. Own companywide financial strategy, multi-year operating plan, and scenario modeling
  2. Lead annual budgeting and forecasting across all departments
  3. Build unit economics, loss ratio modeling, CAC/LTV, retention, and GWP growth models
  4. Deliver monthly financial reporting and variance analysis to CEO and Board
  5. Partner with leadership team on ROI analysis for headcount, technology, distribution, and product investments.
  6. Accounting, Close & Financial Controls
    1. Own monthly, quarterly, and annual close process
  7. Ensure GAAP compliance` and financial statement accuracy
  8. Lead external audits, Tax filings, and technical accounting matters
  9. Capital Strategy, Board & Investor Management
    1. Prepare
      1. Board Decks
    2. Investor reporting packages
    3. Financial diligence materials
    4. Partner with CEO on:
      1. Runway forecasting
    5. Capital efficiency
    6. Valuation modeling
    7. Serve as primary financial lead for investor Q&A and data rooms
    8. InsurTech & Underwriting Specific Operations
      1. Own
        1. GWP, net vs gross revenue tracking
      2. Carrier capacity economics
      3. Commission and fee revenue structure
      4. Reinsurance program financial modeling
      5. Systems, Tools & Automation
      6. Team Building & Leadership
        1. Develop a high ownership, execution first finance culture
      7. Risk, Compliance & Governance
        1. Oversee
          1. Data integrity
        2. Fraud prevention
        3. Financial policy governance
        4. Own all financial policies including:
          1. Spend authorization
        5. T&E
        6. Vendor onboarding
        7. Contract financial review
        8. Cross -Functional Strategic Partnerships
          1. Act as a partner to all departments
        9. Partner with HR on:
          1. Compensation modeling
        10. Equity planning
        11. Hiring plan affordability
        12. Support M&A analysis, integration, and post-acquisition modeling.
Qualifications & Experience
  • 10+ years of experience in finance leadership roles
  • Prior experience in SaaS, FinTech, InsurTech, or regulated financial services
  • Experience in FP&A, Accounting, Capital planning, Audit & Compliance, Revenue recognition
  • Must be:
    • Highly hands on
  • Builder minded
  • Data driven
  • Executive presence with Board and Investors
  • Bachelor’s degree.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Pay Range: $200,000 – $225,000 annually (commensurate with experience and location).
  • Total Compensation Context: This role may be eligible for annual performance bonuses and equity participation.
