Join us in transforming the life sciences industry, committed to making a positive impact on its customers, employees, and communities.
The Role
As VP of Engineering for a new product within Veeva, you will lead the team building our next major AI-driven platform — one that will transform how Life Sciences companies manage safety, regulatory, and clinical development.
You will build and grow this engineering organization from the ground up, with ownership of how the team works, hires, and ships. The team will be AI-first in two meaningful ways: using AI to drive engineering productivity and strong engineering discipline, and building a product that applies AI in genuinely innovative ways to problems that matter.
Within your first year, you will have live customers on the platform and a thriving, growing team behind it - directly accelerating how customers bring life-saving products to market.
What You'll Do
- Lead & Mentor: Recruit and cultivate a high-performing team of individual contributor engineers, inspiring individuals to achieve outsized impact through mentorship and support
- Enhance Processes: Continuously define and establish development processes with heavy use of AI tooling as the team evolves, promoting agility and efficiency
- Ship & Collaborate: Take ownership of product delivery end-to-end, working closely with product stakeholders to align on priorities and ship features that meet our strategic goals
- Strategic Partner: Act as a trusted advisor to senior management, helping to navigate decisions and drive team alignment with broader organizational objectives
Requirements
- Technical Expertise: Proven experience in software engineering management (10+ years) with a strong background in agile commercial software development, ideally in Python
- AI Fluency: Experience building AI-powered products and leveraging AI tooling to accelerate engineering productivity
- Problem Solver: A track record of delivering in ambiguous, high-stakes environments, with the ability to adapt quickly and contribute meaningfully
- Dynamic Leader: Ability to motivate and inspire your team, instilling a sense of ownership and accountability
- Mentorship Skills: Demonstrated success in sourcing, hiring, mentoring, and leading teams to achieve excellence
- Technical Knowledge: Expertise in object-oriented design, application development tools, APIs, and/or cloud-native enterprise application platforms
- Candidates located in Eastern, Central or Mountain Time zones are desirable (team will be mainly East Coast)
- Applicants must have the unrestricted right to work in the United States. Veeva will not provide sponsorship at this time
Perks & Benefits
- Medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance
- Flexible PTO and company paid holidays
- Retirement programs
- 1% charitable giving program
Compensation
- Base pay: $200,000 - $300,000
- The salary range listed here has been provided to comply with local regulations and represents a potential base salary range for this role. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range above or below, depending on experience and location. We look at compensation for each individual and base our offer on your unique qualifications, experience, and expected contributions. This position may also be eligible for other types of compensation in addition to base salary, such as variable bonus and/or stock bonus.
