What You'll Do:
Foster a Culture of Innovation
Promote a data-driven and AI-augmented mindset within the team, encouraging the exploration of new technologies like LangChain, LlamaIndex, real-time event processing (Kafka), and Snowflake-native innovations.
Define and Monitor KPIs for Data Engineering Excellence
Establish and track KPIs for data ingestion rates, processing SLAs, data quality metrics (e.g., record linkage precision/recall), platform reliability, and model scoring accuracy to align engineering outcomes with business goals.
Partner Across Product and Data Science
Collaborate with Product Management and Data Science teams to define data acquisition pipelines, risk scoring features, behavioral classification models, and support customer-facing data products like mobility risk insights and benchmarking reports.
Architect Data Pipelines and Risk Scoring Platforms
Work closely with solution architects and senior engineers to define technical specifications for high-throughput, resilient data ingestion pipelines using Spring Boot, Python, Airflow, and Snowflake. Establish standards for scalable entity resolution, public records integration, and telematics normalization.
Lead Technical Decision-Making
Make critical decisions on data architecture, data modeling (for Snowflake, Graph, and Time Series DBs), real-time stream processing, event-based risk score generation, and downstream analytics services.
Integrate with DevOps, DataOps, and Quality Engineering
Partner with DevOps to streamline CI/CD pipelines for data workflows. Collaborate with DataOps to implement robust observability for Airflow jobs and data quality frameworks. Ensure compliance with security and privacy best practices for public record and personal mobility data.
Grow and Develop a High-Performing Data Engineering Team
Build career development plans for data engineers, machine learning engineers, and architects. Promote continuous learning in emerging topics like generative AI, advanced data observability, synthetic data generation, and federated learning.
Mentor Engineers in Modern Data Architecture Practices
Guide engineers on best practices in scalable microservices design (Spring Boot), streaming architectures, feature store development, privacy-preserving data analytics, and explainable AI methodologies for risk scoring.
Ensure High Standards of Data and Code Quality
Oversee coding practices, review data pipeline implementations, enforce rigorous standards for schema evolution, data contracts, and error handling across batch and real-time systems.
Manage Team Logistics and Cross-Functional Collaboration
Oversee project planning, sprint management, resource allocation, and capacity planning for the data engineering team, ensuring alignment with product timelines and platform evolution.
