About Us:

Blockworks is a financial media brand that delivers breaking news and premium insights about digital assets to millions of investors. Our content, newsletters, podcasts, and events provide investors with the critical analysis and information they need to make smarter decisions about digital assets.

Who You Are:

You’re a crypto-native. You delight in telling stories that help shape the industry and have an innate ability to craft compelling narratives that not only inform but also captivate. Your deep understanding of the crypto industry and the cultural zeitgeist allows you to breathe life into brands, transforming complex concepts into engaging stories that resonate across diverse and engaged audiences. Your passion for the industry is matched only by your exceptional taste in content and delivery, positioning you as a natural leader in content strategy.

You aren't just an observer of the world of crypto; you want to shape and openly engage with the community to ensure you're staying ahead of emerging crypto narratives and even launching some yourself. You have a collaborative spirit at heart, and love leveraging your creativity and personality to be a catalyst for innovation and alignment across diverse teams.

What You’ll Do:

As the VP of Content, you’ll be at the helm of our network of brands, providing strategic leadership and content direction across our media and events platforms, including podcasts, newsletters, and events. You’ll provide content direction and leadership in addition to overseeing the daily performance of our newsletter, events, and podcast teams, assuring seamless delivery and alignment with our overarching brand strategies. You'll be a player-coach in setting brand strategies, aligning content to serve those strategies, and harnessing growth across all our distribution channels.

Every day will look a little different, but in general, you will do things like:

  • Lead Media and Events Programming and Delivery: You'll oversee the content programming and, in partnership with team leaders, be accountable for newsletters, events, and podcast platforms, ensuring their successful delivery and alignment with our strategic objectives.

  • Define and Evolve Brand Identities: You will define, evolve, educate, and communicate distinct brand identities and positioning for each brand, as well as an industry-leading strategy for the network as a whole.

  • Shape Content Direction & Craft Brand Narratives: You'll identify, drive, and through regular feedback, hone the content themes and identities for our house of brands, offering top-down direction and guidance on narratives and stories that resonate with our audience.

  • Lead Content Feedback and Coaching: You'll leverage your insights, experience, and user feedback to mentor our creators, editors, and content teams in creating consistently exceptional content. You'll also provide regular feedback to refine content voice and impact, maintaining a cohesive brand voice across all channels.

  • Aggressively Drive Growth: You'll work with the team to identify and implement organic growth strategies to increase subscribers across all channels, focusing on crafting unique, exceptional content and empowering creators to fully harness social media's power and impact.

  • Drive Cross-Platform Alignment: You'll actively work to ensure seamless alignment across all content platforms, with a media-centric focus that harmonizes our messaging and objectives, regardless of the channel.

  • Optimize Content Delivery: You will collaborate with teams and direct reports to optimize content delivery across all channels, enhancing reach and engagement.

Experimentation is frequent at Blockworks. Comfortability with being uncomfortable is a must.

What You’ve Done Before:

You're humbly confident that you know the crypto industry better than most of the timeline. Your deep understanding of the industry and active involvement in the community have positioned you as a thought leader to be trusted. You have a history of vocal, opinionated content that showcases your ability to craft compelling narratives that inform and engage. You have hands-on examples of content creation and distribution, ideally across various channels and platforms, and you have growth metrics to demonstrate your focus on driving growth and engagement. Lastly, you have exceptional people and collaboration skills that allow you to aligning diverse perspective so a unified strategy easily.

It’d Be Great If You’ve Done This:

A background in brand strategy and positioning (especially in a media setting), is excellent, but not required. Having held senior content roles in other media companies may set you apart from other candidates. Lastly, we're looking for people who have strong leadership and collaboration skills and work well across remote and diverse teams.
