The Department of English at Davidson College invites applications for a two-year position in British Literature since 1800 at the Visiting Assistant Professor level with a start date of August 1, 2026. Completion or imminent completion of a Ph.D. in British literature is required, and undergraduate teaching experience is preferred. The teaching load is five courses per year. Courses for next year will include “British Literature since 1800,” “Desire: A Reading of British Literature or Global Anglophone Literature,” topics courses in British or Global Anglophone Literature (in any period since 1800), along with two first-year writing courses aligned with the candidate’s area(s) of interest.
