Majority of this position will comprise of working with clients over the phone, utilizing virtual mobile/video technology, and completing written formal reports and correspondences. Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills are a must. Quick analysis of accounts with high turn around output expected.
The Virtual Consultant will work on low to mid-size, visible clients which requires identifying impactful virtual service needs and coordination of virtual services. Working from home, you will have the opportunity to participate in the virtual servicing of clients within a team of consultants who will be servicing a book of business virtually.
This position is 100% remote and can be hired at different levels depending on background and experience.
RESPONSIBILITES:
- Create service strategies for clients that address trends and provide a strong customer experience
- Be creative leader in the development and service execution of virtual tools and resources
- Work in a highly collaborative environment and participate in a team approach, engaging with our underwriters and other business partners, to deliver sound business decisions
- May be assigned cross functional projects that assist our segment partners in meeting goals, outlined in both the local Risk Engineering and regional office operating plans
- Provide Risk Engineering technical consultations to a diverse book of business by providing virtual surveys and/or services where applicable for complex businesses
- Perform Risk Engineering consultations to underwriting and agents providing expectations of virtual customer service engagements
- Provide ongoing technical support to policyholders, producers, and other customers to help them with safety and health issues through recommendations that are designed to reduce losses (known and potential) and solve business problems
- Assist in creating/implementing innovative virtual tools and resources to promote and enhance the experience of the client provided with virtual services
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A bachelor’s degree and minimum of 3 years of risk management and Risk Engineering work experience. Direct work experience in Risk Engineering/related is a must. A bachelor's degree in the following fields of study preferred: Safety Management, Risk Management and Insurance, Business Management, Industrial or Environmental Engineering, Biology, or other Science Majors.
- A professional designation or 5+ years of experience risk management and Risk Engineering and willing to attain a professional designation within 24 months of joining The Hartford
- An understanding of commercial lines insurance required
- High personal drive and self-motivation to work independently
- Above average analytical skills
- Strong consultative & relationship building skills to work quickly and successfully in our fast-paced service focused environment
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Broad based knowledge with risk management and Risk Engineering technical disciplines
- A CSP, CHST, ARM or other safety related designation desired, or must be willing to attain professional designations
- Working remotely and with the advancement of this virtual service model, very strong computer skills and other tech equipment/software are needed to work in MS Office Suite of products and other products
- Up to 10% of overnight travel may be required, though most work will be done remotely. Ability to travel for work via air, rail, or automobile.
- Bilingual capabilities are a plus

Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$102,400 - $153,600
