VP, Strategy and Corporate Development Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Vice President of Strategy and Corporate Development to lead our most critical growth initiatives—including mergers and acquisitions (M&A), product, channel and strategic partnerships, and business operations. This high-impact leadership role will shape the future of our company by identifying and executing opportunities that drive long-term value, market expansion, and operational scale.

The ideal candidate has deep experience driving strategic growth for software and/or fintech companies through acquisitions, partnerships, and data-driven planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Corporate Strategy Development. Drive the formulation, execution, and communication of the company’s strategic vision, ensuring alignment with business objectives and market opportunities.
  • Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A). Lead the end-to-end M&A process, including sourcing, financial modeling, diligence, valuation, negotiations, and post-merger integration.
  • Partnerships. Identify, develop, and manage product, channel, and strategic partnerships that expand our market presence and create long-term value.
  • Market Intelligence & Competitive Analysis. Monitor industry trends, evaluate competitive dynamics, and surface insights that inform strategic decision-making and company positioning.
  • Business Operations & Strategic Rhythm. Own the company’s operating cadence, including OKR planning, executive offsites, and business reviews. Ensure alignment and accountability across the leadership team and broader organization.
  • Executive Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement. Collaborate closely with the executive team, board members, and other key stakeholders to align corporate development strategies with company goals.
  • Financial & Business Modeling. Develop business cases and financial models to evaluate strategic initiatives, ensuring informed, data-driven decisions.
  • Post-Acquisition Integration. Lead integration planning and execution for acquired businesses, ensuring smooth operational and cultural alignment.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in corporate development, strategy, M&A, investment banking, or management consulting
  • Track record of executing M&A deals and strategic partnerships, ideally in fintech or SaaS
  • Strong financial and business acumen, including modeling, valuation, and scenario planning
  • Strategic mindset with strong product intuition and ability to collaborate with product and engineering leaders
  • Exceptional communication, executive presence, and stakeholder management skills
  • Proven ability to drive cross-functional alignment and manage complex projects
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field; MBA or advanced degree strongly preferred
  • Willingness to travel frequently (up to 70%), including for in-person meetings, strategic offsites, and partner engagements
  • Preference for candidates located in or willing to relocate to Nashville, TN or New York, NY

Built’s salary range for this position is $285,000 - 345,000 USD per year. The pay range is designed to accommodate upward mobility in the role, therefore it encompasses the full span of proficiency levels for this role and we believe that the midpoint of the range is competitive in the market. Salary is just one component of Built's total compensation package for employees. Your total rewards package at Built will include equity, top-notch medical, dental and vision coverage, an unlimited PTO policy, and other benefits.
