Job Summary

Job Description

This position will be responsible in directing and sponsoring Nidec Motion sourcing activities, working closely with the business segment procurement organizations, and senior leadership in pursuit of sustainable reductions in the total cost of goods and services procured. This role will report to the Nidec Motion platform President along with the functional Procurement leader in Nidec Japan.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Prepare annual and long-term strategic sourcing plans which identify how the central sourcing organization and Business Segments intend to achieve Nidec Motion Procurement goals. The plan will propose specific sourcing team projects for the year, expected savings from initiatives, staffing needs, and timetable for completion.
  • Partner with the business segment Procurement leaders to establish and implement procurement policies, procedures, and standards to ensure consistency, efficiency, and compliance across all business segments under the Motion platform.
  • Drive performance in centralized procurement divisions by jointly setting targets with Business Segment Procurement leaders. Work closely with the Business Segments to determine the current and future sourcing needs to agree on the best method for fulfilling those needs, and to monitor ongoing effectiveness of the process.
  • Promote and participate in committees to ensure that strategic sourcing's input is integrated into major corporate/BUs decisions and initiatives.
  • Track planned and achieved savings and build methods for incorporating savings from sourcing teams into annual operating budgets. Responsible for communicating at a group/BUs level overall sourcing risks/trends/results on an ongoing basis and preparing a comprehensive communication strategy/approach to build company/BU-wide awareness on how to manage sourcing costs more
  • Participate and support in acquisition activities by assessing the sourcing opportunity during the due diligence phase and rapidly aligning sourcing strategies/practices of acquired companies to leverage volume and best practices.
  • Coordinate with business segments to identify and execute performance improvement initiatives aimed at achieving year-over-year reductions in total sourcing spend
  • Coach business segment Procurement leaders on development of leadership and business management skills

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • 15+ years of functional experience in the procurement space.
  • Project management experience.
  • Cost control emphasis in a global environment.
  • Continuous improvement and lean principles background.
  • Sound understanding of quality control measures and standards
  • Thorough knowledge of health and safety standards.
  • Significant experience with Consumer Goods Company, working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong experience in procurement sourcing and business partnering executive level stakeholders.
  • Negotiation experience across multiple types of scenarios; Blend of strategic and operations mindset
  • Proven track record of working within multiple executive level stakeholders to deliver results.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including total cost analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a diverse team and to drive change across functions through influence.
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Procurement, Supply Chain, Business Administration or related field
  • Masters degree required. Preferably MBA
  • Prefer candidates with certifications in one or more of the following: PMP, PM, EIPM, CPP, CSCP

Travel

  • Frequent global travel will be required.

Languages

  • English mandatory. Other languages skills preferred.
