The Private Debt Product Manager will develop, structure, position, and implement private debt focused investment solutions primarily for Nuveen's institutional client base, with a focus on insurance clients who have risk-based capital sensitivities. The candidate will achieve results through idea generation and collaboration with distribution, senior investment management, asset class product leads, legal & compliance, marketing, operations, and finance personnel.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Leads development, modeling and structuring of investment products including, but not limited to, rated note feeders, collateralized fund obligations and other securitized structures

  • Product innovation around wrapper types that address the institutional clients needs across asset liability matching, liquidity, and regulatory requirements

  • Aid global distribution team in the design of comprehensive service solutions

  • Modeling of structured solutions to estimate potential return ranges across various tranches available to clients

  • Creates strategic product plans for the insurance channel. The plans will evaluate and refine assigned products, investment vehicles, and their distribution, based on financial, internal capabilities, market, and operational considerations; plans will include implementation, marketing and sales components

  • Oversees and manages service providers (outside counsel, syndication banks, ratings agencies) as part of product structuring process

  • Serves as subject matter expert, providing guidance and detailed product information to distribution and clients for due diligence questions, client servicing, offering memoranda, and other purposes

  • Ensures products are compliant with local regulatory requirements

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Required

Work Experience

  • 5+ Years Required; 7+ Years Preferred

FINRA Registrations

  • SRC Indicator: NRF

Required Experience:

  • 5+ years of direct experience at an asset manager, insurance company or ratings agency
  • 5 + years of direct experience with structured credit or private debt products
  • Familiarity with legal documentation of private funds, securitizations or other fund finance products
  • Strong proficiency to build excel models of asset-level cash flows and distribution waterfalls and analyze the impact of stress scenarios
  • Bachelor of Arts, specializing in business, math or engineering

Preferred Experience:

  • Advanced degree in business, law, math or engineering
  • CFA, FRM or CAIA designation(s)
  • 10+ years of direct experience at an asset manager, insurance company or ratings agency
  • Familiarity with regulatory capital considerations across the United States (NAIC), United Kingdom, Europe (Solvency II), Bermuda and local regimes in APAC
  • Strong knowledge of private market asset classes, primarily private debt 
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and client presentation experience
  • Desire to work in a team environment

Base Pay Range: $140,000/yr - $183,540/yr

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.  In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
