Multi-Asset Strategies & Solutions (MASS)

The MASS team is the investment group at the heart of BlackRock's portfolio construction, asset allocation, and active management ecosystem. MASS draws on the full toolkit of BlackRock’s index, factor, and alpha-seeking investment capabilities to deliver precise investment outcomes and cutting-edge alpha insights. MASS constructs active asset allocation strategies and whole portfolio solutions across a wide spectrum of commingled funds, separate accounts, model portfolios, and outsourcing solutions in the wealth and institutional channels.

Job Description:

Based in New York, this person will report to the Head of the MASS Business Strategy & Development who serves as a member of the MASS ExCo.

The VP of Business Strategy & Development will help shape and execute MASS’s global strategy. The role spans business architecture, commercialization, operating‑model design, and coordination across MASS investment teams, Product Strategy, Platform Transformation, PMG, GPS, BGM, and Private Markets. This is a high‑visibility position requiring strong strategic thinking, cross‑functional leadership, and disciplined execution.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy & Growth

  • Drive the multi‑year MASS strategic roadmap, aligning priorities with firmwide objectives and emerging client needs.

  • Analyze business performance and commercial trends to inform decision‑making, growth priorities, and resource allocation.

  • Support strategic initiatives across whole‑portfolio solutions, active strategies, OCIO, retirement, SMAs, and private markets.

Business Architecture & Operating Model

  • Enhance governance, decision‑making processes, and organizational clarity across MASS.

  • Support key leadership forums by shaping agendas, synthesizing issues, and ensuring follow‑through on decisions.

Product, Platform & Investment Connectivity

  • Collaborate with Product Strategy and Portfolio Management to align MASS capabilities with client demand and strategic themes.

  • Drive innovation workstreams spanning private‑markets solutions, commingled offerings, SMA modernization, and digital enablement.

Stakeholder Partnership & Execution

  • Act as a trusted partner to senior leaders, translating complex insights into clear recommendations and coordinated work plans.

  • Support high‑stakes client, partner, and leadership engagements with analysis, framing, and briefing materials.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of relevant work experience in strategy, product, management consulting, business management, or investment‑adjacent roles.

  • Strong analytical, communication, and strategic‑framing skills.

  • Familiarity with multi‑asset, alts, or solutions businesses preferred.

  • High degree of ownership, sound judgment, and comfort operating in a dynamic environment.

For New York, NY Only the salary range for this position is USD$155,000.00 - USD$210,000.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including healthcare, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.

Our hybrid work model
