Common Qualifications

While each startup has its own hiring criteria, many VP of Engineering roles in our network look for:

  • 12+ years of experience in software engineering, with 5+ years in senior leadership roles

  • Proven track record of scaling engineering teams from startup to growth stage

  • Experience leading distributed teams and cross-functional collaboration

  • Deep expertise in technical architecture, software development methodologies, and cloud infrastructure

  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, product development cycles, and engineering execution frameworks
