What the Vice President, Data Management does at Worldwide
The Vice President, Data Management provides strategic leadership and executive oversight for the company’s global Data Management function. This role is responsible for setting the vision, operational framework, and standards that enable efficient, compliant, and high-quality data delivery across the organization.
As the global leader of Data Management, the VP oversees department strategy, execution, and continuous improvement, ensuring real-time, efficient data flow that results in clean, analyzable databases. This position leads and develops high-performing teams, establishes and maintains robust processes and SOPs, and ensures readiness for client and regulatory audits.
The Vice President partners closely with cross-functional and executive stakeholders, evaluates key performance indicators, supports business development efforts, and maintains financial oversight of the department. This role also holds full accountability for the recruitment, retention, and development of Data Management talent.
As a key member of the Worldwide Flex Leadership Team, the Vice President, Data Management plays a critical role in advancing organizational strategy and delivering operational excellence at a global scale.
What you will do
Set the global strategy, structure, and operational framework for the Data Management department.
Lead, develop, and mentor Data Management leadership and teams, with full accountability for hiring, performance, growth, retention, and succession planning.
Establish, maintain, and continuously improve SOPs, processes, and best practices to ensure high‑quality, compliant deliverables.
Oversee the operational execution of data management activities across studies, ensuring contractual compliance, quality, and client satisfaction.
Define, track, and optimize productivity, quality, utilization, and performance metrics.
Provide financial oversight for the Data Management department, including budget management and non‑billable travel approvals.
Act as the executive escalation point for project and client issues, fostering strong partnerships and positive client relationships.
Provide strategic input into business development, including RFP responses, bid defenses, and client presentations.
Partner with technology stakeholders to shape current and future-state data management capabilities.
Represent the Data Management function internally and externally, including cross‑functional forums, client meetings, and industry events.
Serve as a company-wide data champion, promoting efficient data flow, innovation, and a culture of data quality and excellence.
What you will bring to the role
Deep knowledge of the drug development process, ICH GCP, and FDA and/or international clinical trial regulations
Strong data management expertise with broad industry awareness
Proven financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and resource management
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office and enterprise computer applications.
Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities with sound judgment and decision-making skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt effectively in a fast‑changing environment
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across all organizational levels and diverse teams
Independent, results-driven leader and collaborative team player with a commitment to excellence, innovation, and high standards
Your experience
Degree in statistics preferred; however, a degree in science, mathematics, or a related field coupled with relevant work experience may be an acceptable substitute.
A minimum of 15+ years of relevant work experience.
A minimum of 5 years of relevant leadership experience in a Clinical Research Organization with extensive exposure in business development and management activities.
Strong working knowledge of the drug development process, ICH GCP guidelines, and FDA and/or international regulations and their application to clinical trials.
