Job Title Vice President, Associate General Counsel – Charitable Programs
The RoleThe FMR LLC Legal Department is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented attorney to join the Corporate Services legal team. This role will provide legal, tax and transactional support to the Fidelity Charitable Gift Fund, the largest public charity in the United States (by donations), and other philanthropic programs and services.
This is an excellent opportunity for:
- an experienced tax-exempt organization. donor advised fund attorney with a strong understanding of tax law relating to public charities, private foundations and donor advised funds who is looking to deepen their experience with the largest program in the United States, or
- a lawyer with a tax background willing to take on the work required to develop the expertise and operate in a highly specialized area.
- Excellent and practical drafting, negotiation, analytical and communication skills, with the capacity to explain complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.·
- Familiarity with or ability to quickly learn tax laws concerning donor advised funds, private foundations, charitable contributions·.
- Ability to work independently under pressure in a dynamic environment will require you to manage multiple, competing tasks simultaneously. ·
- Pragmatic sound judgement and the ability to make reasoned risk-based decisions.·
- Ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to build strong relationships across legal, risk, compliance and business teams.
- Monitor and analyze legal and regulatory developments impacting philanthropic programs
- Highly organized, self-motivated and self-directed, but comfortable with reporting lines that require obtaining approvals and buy-ins from numerous constituents.

The TeamAs a key member of a collaborative legal team, you will work closely with Fidelity Philanthropic executives and associates, internal legal colleagues, and external counsel on a broad range of philanthropic offerings and services. In addition to ongoing programs and services, you will work on the development and implementation of new programs and services. You will also stay current on regulatory matters that impact the programs and services and react to day-to-day legal issues as they arise. You will work closely with external counsel for the board of trustees for the charitable programs as well as, from time to time, the boards of such programs. The work is dynamic, challenging, fast paced and engaging.
