You will be directly supporting Ford’s Advanced Driver Assistance System team to assess and validate designs for regulatory compliance and safety, working closely with hardware, software and features engineering teams to ensure component, sub-system and systems level safety / compliance throughout the development cycle, product launch phase, on-going change management and field evaluations – Program Start through Job Last.

ResponsibilitiesWhat you'll do...
- Single point of contact in the feature system functional areas for all product safety and compliance topics.
- Develop and translate system level regulatory requirements to component level engineering requirements to ensure robust compliance.
- Maintain awareness of technology and regulatory development to help Ford’s vehicles robustly comply globally.
- Ensure Safety and Compliance requirements are cascaded at the right time, understood by the right stakeholders, and include system and component implications.
- Provide guidance on engineering robustness deliverables such as DFMEAs, HARAs, and SOTIF analyses.
- Assess Stop Ships and field or build issues for potential cross-vehicle line effects, ensure process improvements and Prevent Action Closure remedies are properly communicated and implemented into Failure Mode Avoidance documents, deliverables and processes beyond same-part assessment to include related families or functional considerations.
- Develop and maintain Compliance Strategy Templates for pre-production programs to support program milestone health chart reviews.
- Provide technical expertise for development of comprehensive and optimized Compliance Demonstration Plans.
- Oversee design validation testing and provide a detailed review of Compliance Demonstration Reports including feature interaction reviews.
- Represent safety and compliance for the core functional area in all Design Reviews and key decision forums including review of all deviation requests and change requests. Review all proposed Technical Service Bulletins, Special Service Messages and Over-The-Air Update requests to assess for safety and compliance, and refer to Critical Concern Review Group if appropriate.
- Ensure alignment of key safety and compliance controls of components, sub-systems and systems throughout the Failure Mode Avoidance process, facilitating cross-functional collaboration between hardware, software and features engineering teams as well as downstream manufacturing and supplier processes.
- Partner with Campaign Prevent Specialists and Program Compliance Attribute Leads in Fresh Eyes Reviews and issue resolution.
- Deliver on-going training to SW feature and motion controls organizations, technical specialists, and Hardware / Software / Features Engineering teams to promote a strong safety/compliance culture throughout the enterprise.
- Review processes, connected data, warranty, prototype issues, Compliance Demonstration Report timing and functional performance to recommend changes to audits and checks of Design, Release and Manufacturing attributes
- Participate in vehicle fresh eyes reviews (FER’s) to ensure compliance and regulatory requirements are being met.
You'll have...
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
- 2+ years of experience delivering automotive engineering solutions for a feature, system, component, etc. that is regulated by a Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard or a safety oriented ECE Regulation

Experience with engineering requirement authoring, classification, derivation, assessment, and evidence
- Deep technical knowledge of ADAS systems
- Experience in SW and systems feature development and validation processes
- Positive problem-solving attitude and conflict resolution skills
- Experience with root cause identification and creating prevent recurrence actions
- Familiarity with DFMEA’s and severity ratings, including the new rating tables
- Familiarity with Functional Safety analysis (ISO 26262)
- Familiarity with Safety of the Intended Function (ISO 21448)
- Knowledge of FMVSS requirements and ability to apply them throughout engineering process
- Ability to collaborate and connect cross-functionally to implement transformative process improvements
- Strong communication and cross-functional networking skills
Strong decision-making skills and resolve to raise issues to the right people at the right time
- Ability to critically evaluate data to make key decisions. Experience with modern business intelligence tools, or use of connected data / creation of dashboards to aide in decision making is a key skill for this role.
- Strong desire to improve safety and drive safety culture
