Who We Are

TCGplayer, now a part of eBay, connects hobbyists and hobby businesses: we relentlessly pursue customer-focused innovations to provide the most compelling destination and tools for collectible card game enthusiasts and professional sellers. We’re dedicated to serving the global collectible community – millions of buyers and tens of thousands of retailers – representing a $25B hobby market.

We are looking for a highly collaborative and motivated UX Staff Content Designer to join our UX Research, Strategy & Design team, supporting the success and growth of buyers and sellers around the world. Our mission is to promote a culture of design thinking that results in useful, scalable, engaging and TCGplayer brand-worthy products. We champion a human-centered approach to design, and advocate for our customers as we build alongside Product and Engineering teammates.

Who You Are

As a full-stack content designer, you believe writing is designing. You see language as a design material and you get others to think the same. You know how to solve complicated business and design problems with deceptively simple words. If you’re enthusiastic about beautiful, user-centered design that is heavily rooted in quantitative data and qualitative insights, and have experience leading content design initiatives across the entire product development lifecycle within a cross-functional team, this is an excellent opportunity! Our team prides itself on a culture that fosters camaraderie, embraces diversity, and exudes passion.

You don’t have to be a hobbyist or gamer to love working at TCGplayer, but you should be comfortable embracing (and amplifying!) our commitment to making hobbies and games accessible, fun, and rewarding for everyone.

The impact you'll make here

  • Define, implement, and champion a UX content design practice and related workflows at TCGplayer, in collaboration with UX Design and Product leadership.

  • Gather and define interface, content, and copy requirements and success criteria during the Discovery phase of TCGplayer’s Product Development Life Cycle (PDLC).

  • Write, edit, and validate customer-focused, accessible UX copy, informed by a deep understanding of the hobby community’s language and conventions, usability best practices, customer behavioral data, and qualitative insights to center TCGplayer’s UX content design and decisions on our customers’ needs during the Delivery phase of our PDLC; sign off on UX content before production releases.

  • Apply brand voice and tone standards to new and existing products and features; provide feedback to brand owners based on findings from UX implementations and customer interactions.

  • Deliver UX content briefs to TCGplayer’s Marketing, Sales, and Support teams during the Go-to-Market phase of TCGplayer’s PDLC, enabling them to clear, consistent, and accurate communications across  all of our communication channels.

  • With your manager's support, create a plan and early execution for a UX content design system including updates to user experience designs, content documents, design files, and/or other documentation tools.

  • Provide recommendations and roadmap to shape the future of the UX organization’s content design competency.

What You Bring to the Team

  • 8+ years of professional experience in content-focused and in-product roles at technology organizations.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in English, journalism, communications, marketing, human-centered interaction, or related field.

  • A portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product work, a systems-level mindset, and the ability to distill complex information down to its simplest form.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to socialize content design decisions and insights, and to align teams around UX content standards.

  • Mastery of contemporary UX content design tools and content management systems (CMSs), specifically Figma and Ditto.

  • Mastery of working within an agile environment alongside a multidisciplinary team, including close partnerships with UX Design, UX Research, Product, and Engineers divisions.

  • Demonstrated experience, in a principal or leadership capacity, designing and executing end-to-end and accessible content design solutions.

  • Demonstrated experience designing and performing – with research team partnership – behavioral, usability, and split testing practices and common tools to evaluate UX content designs and make informed improvements.

  • Experience creating, socializing, and working within content design systems that support multiple channels of a business and are accessible to a variety of users from many devices and platforms.

Bonus points for

  • Participation in the hobby and collectibles community, particularly trading card games.

  • Experience leveraging generative AI technology as it pertains to content design and related workflows.

  • Professional experience with online marketplaces, ecommerce, and/or SMB SaaS products.
