Join the User Experience organization at Liberty Mutual!
Come join the Liberty Mutual Design System team and help us build branded, accessible components that the rest of Liberty Mutual can reuse to build out best-in-class customer and employee-facing experiences. As a design system UX developer, you'll be part of a user experience team that is on a mission to create extraordinary digital experiences that position our company to win big with our customers, agents, and prospects. In this role, you'll join a supportive, 8-person design system team that loves to collaborate and build tools for the folks that make these great experiences.
About the role:
This is a full-time position within Liberty Mutual's UX organization. The person in this role will be primarily focused on building out the Liberty Mutual Design System (LMDS), which is a toolkit of coded components (in React & Angular), design & content standards, and Figma components.
We're looking for a React developer who will help build out the design system toolkit with new components and features that will be leveraged by designers and developers to improve customer and employee experiences. This individual will also support our design system community by troubleshooting bugs and reviewing contributions to the design system.
In this role, you will:

  • Work with LMDS teammates to define React component APIs, leveraging existing standards and incorporating feedback from our technical community
  • Write code to build and/or refactor React components based on the design specification and API, and write Storybook documentation to showcase variants and configuration options
  • Research and implement technical improvements such as building reusable utilities and upgrading packages
  • Help triage and size incoming feature requests
  • Help troubleshoot issues that arise for React community members
  • Demo new code to community members
  • Keep team informed of progress and blockers


Qualifications
This role might be for you if you have:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and 3+ years of experience as a React developer
  • Demonstrated front-end development skills (expertise with React, TypeScript, and CSS/SCSS, familiarity with HTML5, and Git)
  • Experience collaborating with UX designers working in mobile and responsive web design
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Proven track record of collaborating with cross-functional teams in an agile scrum-based
    environment
  • Basic understanding of design principles, visual design, white space, font treatments, information architecture, grid systems
  • Bonus: experience using methodologies such as design thinking and service design, experience with Figma, experience meeting accessibility standards such as WCAG 2.1, and experience writing code in Angular
