Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced UX and Design Lead to lead our design efforts and shape the user experience across our Healthcare Intelligent Marketplace and our growing portfolio of products. This strategic leadership role will drive design excellence, establish design systems, and ensure our products meet the complex needs of healthcare professionals while maintaining regulatory compliance and accessibility standards.

We are a fast-moving, ever-changing product organization looking for someone to make a major impact on the company, and build our UX and Design practice from the ground up. If this is exciting to you – we have the perfect role for you! This role will report directly to the Chief Product Officer. 


Key Accountabilities  

Design Leadership & Strategy 

  • Define and execute the overall UX and design vision aligned with business and product objectives and user needs
  • Establish Design/UX Function from the ground up, including working with a collection of Product Managers, contract resources, and or building out a team of designers
  • Establish design principles, frameworks, and best practices specific to healthcare B2B applications
  • Champion user-centered design methodology throughout the organization
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to influence product strategy and roadmap

User Research & Insights 

  • Lead user research initiatives to deeply understand customer workflows, pain points, and user needs
  • Establish research operations and methodologies appropriate for healthcare and customer environments
  • Partner with Product Managers to translate complex clinical and administrative requirements into intuitive design solutions
  • Drive data-informed design decisions through usability testing, analytics, and user feedback

Design Excellence & Execution 

  • Oversee end-to-end design process from concept through implementation, with the appropriate level of depth for our size of company
  • Create and maintain comprehensive design systems that ensure consistency across products
  • Balance user needs with business requirements, technical constraints, and regulatory compliance
  • Ensure designs meet HIPAA, accessibility, and other healthcare industry standards where appropriate
  • Work closely with product management and engineering to deliver exceptional user experiences 

Cross-functional Collaboration 

  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Customer, and Commercial teams to deliver cohesive solutions
  • Communicate design rationale and advocate for user needs with stakeholders at all levels
  • Foster strong relationships with customers to gather insights and validate design decisions
  • Represent design in company-wide initiatives and strategic planning

Innovation & Continuous Improvement 

  • Stay current with healthcare technology trends, design patterns, and emerging technologies
  • Drive innovation in healthcare UX through experimentation and iterative improvement
  • Establish metrics to measure design impact and user satisfaction
  • Continuously evolve design processes and team capabilities

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities 

  • AI first experience, and depth of experience leveraging AI technologies to streamline UX/Design processes
  • Deep expertise in user-centered design methodologies, design thinking, and design systems
  • Strong understanding of healthcare workflows, Health plans and/or payor experience, and industry regulations
  • Proficiency with design tools (Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, prototyping tools)
  • Understanding of HIPAA compliance and healthcare data privacy requirements
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with ability to influence senior stakeholders
  • Strategic mindset with ability to balance short-term execution with long-term vision
  • Soft skills:

Required Education and Experience 

  • Bachelor's degree in Design, HCI, Computer Science, or related field 
  • 5+ years of experience in UX/UI design with at least 2+ years in leadership roles in Startup or Early-stage companies
  • Proven track record designing complex B2B software applications
  • Experience in healthcare technology, medical devices, or highly regulated industries
  • Demonstrated success building and scaling design teams
  • Portfolio showcasing strategic thinking and execution of enterprise software design, preferably in a healthcare setting

Preferred Education and Experience 

  • Relevant certifications in UX, design leadership, or healthcare technology
  • Experience with healthcare interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR)
  • Background working with clinicians, nurses, or healthcare administrators
  • Experience with SaaS products and modern software development practices
  • Deep Understanding of AI applications and opportunities
  • Track record of successful product launches in healthcare market

Location: Remote anywhere within the US (Must be located in the US)
