Traditional utilization management has been viewed by both patients and physicians as impediments to accessing appropriate medical care. We are seeking an intern to join Progyny’s Utilization Management team. Progyny’s NPUA utilization management program-developed in collaboration with our Medical Advisory Board approaches UM as a more current evidence-based /personalized approach with a focus on delivering clinically appropriate care to our members while also keeping an eye to ensure appropriate medical expenditures 

 

Progyny’s internship program offers undergraduate and graduate students the chance to gain valuable corporate work experience while contributing to meaningful projects that benefit the company. The internship program runs year-round based on the needs of each department, with a dedicated summer program that begins in June. Summer interns will be required to present to senior leadership on project(s) that they have completed during their time with Progyny. 

The internship program will align the intern to a specific business leader to execute on a specific project plan. This is a paid internship with a hybrid schedule, requiring interns to work in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Remote positions may also be available. 

 

What you’ll do... 

  • Learn what goes into UM program build and development  

  • Discern if there are other areas in infertility covered by Progyny where further UM policy development may be beneficial 

  • Learn how to effectively communicate and collaborate with various stakeholders 

  • Assist UM team with both Progyny Federal and NPUA UM case review 

  • Provide actionable recommendations for improving UM processes based on observations and data analysis. 

  • Complete a Provider audit for UM compliance 

About you... 

  •  Seeking a career in the medical profession. (Nursing, Pre-Med, Healthcare Administration, Healthcare Research)  

  • Strong Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word) skills and ability to efficiently work with large volumes of data and pivot tables. 

  • Organized and methodical with strong attention to detail. 

  • Comfortable collaborating with and presenting to executives. 

  • Demonstrated ability to be adaptive and inquisitive; natural problem solver. 

  • Prefers to work independently with clear initial guidance/requests leveraging cross functional resources and teams. 

  • Driven to deliver results with the ability to establish rapport, earn trust, and effectively collaborate with others.

In compliance with New York City's Wage Transparency Law, the annual salary [wage] range for NYC-based applicants is: $25.00/hour - $50.00/hour.
