Job Description:

The HPE AI Essentials Software team is seeking a UI/UX Engineer who blends worldclass experience design expertise- with strong frontend engineering skills. Beyond core UX research and design capabilities, the ideal candidate will be equally effective in designing modern driven user interfaces for the AI platform. HPE AI Essentials Software empowers enterprises to deploy, manage, and scale AI workloads with a single, integrated platform. Unifying data ingestion, model training, inference, and deployment, it delivers end-to-end workflows, optimized GPU usage, and built-in security and governance. With production-ready observability and a managed application lifecycle, it helps administrators, data scientists, analysts, and engineers- to run end-to-end AI lifecycles with less manual integration.

This role also requires hands on- frontend development experience — specifically deep proficiency- with React, modern JavaScript/TypeScript design patterns, component based- architecture, and frontend integration with Node.js/Go services.

Candidates must be comfortable partnering closely with engineering teams, contributing to rapid prototyping, and validating- design concepts in working code when necessary. Experience working with cloud native architectures is a significant advantage; Kubernetes- knowledge is a strong plus, particularly for designers and engineers who have built or supported scalable web applications or microservices-based systems. The ideal candidate is a hybrid creative technologist: a strong visual/interaction designer who also understands the realities of software engineering, iterates fast, and can help drive high -velocity feature delivery across enhanced product experiences.

Job Family Definition

Responsible for designing, building, and shipping high-quality user interfaces that deliver exceptional user experiences across complex software platforms. Combines deep front-end engineering proficiency with strong visual and interaction design sensibility to bridge the gap between design intent and production-ready code. Work within this job family spans three major categories: (1) feature development — implementing and refining UI components and workflows within existing products, (2) design-driven engineering — translating user research and design concepts into performant, accessible interfaces, and (3) platform-level UI architecture — establishing scalable front-end patterns, design systems, and component libraries that elevate the entire product experience.

Management Level Definition Contributions include applying developed subject matter expertise to solve common and sometimes complex technical problems and recommending alternatives where necessary. Might act as project lead and provide assistance to lower-level professionals. Exercises independent judgment and consults with others to determine best method for accomplishing work and achieving objectives.

Responsibilities:

· Develops, and maintains front-end applications using React, TypeScript, and modern JavaScript frameworks, ensuring code quality, performance, and maintainability at scale.

· Applies strong UI/UX design skills to evaluate, refine, and when needed to originate interface designs — producing, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups that can be validated quickly with stakeholders.

· Plans and conducts lightweight usability evaluations and design reviews; synthesizes findings into actionable engineering and design improvements.

· Builds and evolves reusable component libraries and design system assets that enforce visual consistency and accelerate feature delivery across teams.

· Collaborates closely with product managers, UX HPE designers, and backend engineers to translate business and user requirements into polished, accessible interfaces.

· Participates in front-end technical decisions — including state management, API integration patterns, build tooling, and testing strategies — while keeping the user experience at the center of every trade-off.

· Education and Experience Required:

· Bachelor’s or Master's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or closely related quantitative discipline.

· Typically, 4-6 years' experience.

Knowledge and Skills:

· Deep proficiency in modern front-end technologies — React, TypeScript, JavaScript — and a strong command of HTML, CSS, and responsive design principles.

· Solid understanding and practical application of design theories, interaction patterns, and visual design principles as they apply to complex software products and platform interfaces.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to break down ambiguous requirements into clear engineering and design tasks.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to articulate technical trade-offs and design rationale clearly to both engineering and non-technical stakeholders.

· Ability to effectively present UI architectures, design proposals, and front-end technical strategies to peers and leadership, negotiating priorities and scope when necessary.

Impact/Scope:

· Collaborates with cross-functional peers — backend engineers, product managers, designers, and QA

· Regularly interfaces with senior Individual Contributors, Engineering Managers, and Program leadership to align front-end strategy with product direction.

· Leads front-end workstreams and feature initiatives that require both strong engineering execution and thoughtful user experience design.
