About Anthropic

Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.

About the role

We are looking for a talented Transfer Pricing Director to join our Tax team. In this role, you will play a central part in building and scaling Anthropic's global transfer pricing function as we expand internationally. Reporting to the Head of Transfer Pricing, you will own key workstreams across transfer pricing strategy, compliance, and documentation — working closely with cross-functional partners to ensure our intercompany arrangements are robust, defensible, and aligned with evolving global standards. This role requires deep transfer pricing expertise, strong analytical abilities, and the ability to execute complex projects in a fast-moving environment. If you are looking for an opportunity to help shape the transfer pricing function at an innovative AI company, come join us in our mission to build cutting-edge, safe AI.

Responsibilities
  • Design and implement transfer pricing policies and intercompany pricing frameworks in coordination with the Head of Transfer Pricing

  • Lead the preparation and maintenance of transfer pricing documentation, including master files, local files, and country-by-country reports across multiple jurisdictions

  • Draft and manage intercompany agreements in collaboration with Legal

  • Support the transfer pricing aspects of complex transactions, including M&A, restructurings, and new business initiatives

  • Assist in the initiation and management of Advance Pricing Agreements (APAs) and support the team through transfer pricing audits, including managing responses to tax authorities

  • Identify, document, and support uncertain tax positions related to transfer pricing

  • Build and maintain transfer pricing models and economic analyses to support pricing decisions and compliance

  • Support quarterly and year-end close processes related to transfer pricing

  • Manage relationships with external transfer pricing advisors and coordinate multi-jurisdictional engagements

  • Monitor developments in global transfer pricing rules, including OECD guidelines, U.S. IRC §482 regulations, and country-specific changes, and communicate implications to internal stakeholders

  • Collaborate with Accounting, Finance & Strategy, Legal, HR, and other departments on intercompany pricing strategies

  • Identify and drive process improvements and automation opportunities in transfer pricing workflows and documentation

You may be a good fit if you have
  • 10+ years of transfer pricing experience, including experience in a leadership or senior individual contributor capacity

  • Strong, hands-on familiarity with OECD transfer pricing guidelines/initiatives and U.S. IRC §482 regulations

  • A degree in a relevant field, such in a law degree (JD and/or LLM) or a degree in a quantitative field, such as Economics, Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, or Statistics (advanced/graduate degrees are a plus)

  • Solid quantitative economic analysis skills

  • A reputation for being a diligent self-starter

  • Experience preparing or overseeing transfer pricing compliance/documentation across multiple jurisdictions

  • The ability to work cross-functionally and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Strong project management skills and comfort working in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment

Strong candidates may also
  • Have experience working at a fast-growing technology company or advising tech companies on transfer pricing matters

  • Bring a keen interest in automation and process efficiency as applied to tax and compliance workflows

  • Be passionate about Anthropic's mission to build safe, transformative AI systems

We think this makes representation even more important, and we strive to include a range of diverse perspectives on our team.

How we're different

We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.

The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.

Come work with us!

Anthropic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and a lovely office space in which to collaborate with colleagues.
