YOUR MISSION
We are seeking highly motivated Test Engineers at multiple experience levels (Level 1, Level 2, and Senior) to support the design, planning, and execution of test campaigns for aerospace defense systems. You will work closely with engineers, program managers, and technical teams to ensure that systems meet performance, environmental, and mission-critical requirements. In this role, you will develop test plans, execute tests, collect data, analyze results, and ensure that the systems meet all specifications. The position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge aerospace technologies in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
LEVEL 1 - TEST ENGINEER (1–3+ years)
- Support test planning, setup, and execution of system and component-level tests across mechanical, electrical, and environmental disciplines.
- Assist in writing and maintaining test procedures, ensuring clarity and adherence to engineering requirements.
- Execute test procedures and record test data, following established safety and quality protocols.
- Collaborate with design and systems engineers to ensure tests align with verification requirements.
- Support root cause investigations of anomalies found during testing and assist in documenting findings.
- Maintain and organize test reports, data packages, and supporting documentation for review and audit.
- Participate in pre-test reviews, post-test debriefs, and technical meetings to build foundational knowledge.
LEVEL 2 - TEST ENGINEER (3–5+ years)
- Lead planning, execution, and documentation of component- and system-level tests in accordance with engineering specifications and requirements.
- Author, review, and maintain detailed test procedures, reports, and data packages aligned with program needs.
- Analyze test data, document anomalies, and work with cross-functional teams to resolve issues.
- Ensure tests meet safety, quality, and configuration control standards, supporting internal and customer reviews.
- Manage instrumentation setup, test article configuration, and test facility readiness.
- Serve as a liaison between design, manufacturing, and quality teams during test readiness reviews.
- Support continuous improvement in test methodology, automation, and data analysis practices.
SENIOR TEST ENGINEER (5–7+ years)
- Define and lead test strategies for major programs, including requirements verification, procedure development, and execution oversight.
- Author and review high-level test documentation including plans, procedures, readiness reports, and compliance matrices.
- Analyze complex test data, resolve anomalies, and lead root cause investigations and corrective actions.
- Oversee test campaigns involving multiple disciplines (thermal, structural, EMI, functional) and ensure full traceability to system requirements.
- Mentor junior engineers and serve as the technical point of contact for internal and external test-related communications.
- Interface with program leadership, customers, and regulatory bodies during design reviews and formal test events.
- Ensure compliance with industry and military standards for test planning and reporting.
QUALIFICATIONS
LEVEL 1 - TEST ENGINEER (1–3+ years)
- Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or related technical field.
- 1–3+ years of academic or industry experience in a testing or validation environment.
- Basic understanding of test equipment, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and capable of learning test management software and tools.
- U.S. Citizenship required due to government contracts.
LEVEL 2 - TEST ENGINEER (3–5+ years)
- Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, mechanical, electrical engineering, or related field.
- 3–5+ years of hands-on experience in a test engineering role within the aerospace or defense industry.
- Proficiency in test planning, execution, and post-test analysis using modern tools and methods.
- Working knowledge of test equipment, DAQ systems, and test scripting or automation.
- Familiarity with MIL-STD-810, DO-160, or similar test protocols.
- U.S. Citizenship required due to government contracts.
SENIOR TEST ENGINEER (5–7+ years)
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering; Master’s preferred.
- 5–7+ years of experience in test engineering for aerospace, defense, or high-reliability systems.
- Deep knowledge of environmental and performance test methodologies and standards.
- Experience leading complex test campaigns and multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong background in data analysis, systems engineering, and failure analysis.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and technical documentation skills.
- U.S. Citizenship required due to government contracts.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
LEVEL 1 - TEST ENGINEER (1–3+ years)
- Internship or co-op experience in aerospace, defense, or test engineering.
- Exposure to environmental testing such as vibration, thermal, or shock testing.
- Familiarity with test standards like MIL-STD-810, DO-160, or similar.
- Hands-on experience with lab instrumentation, sensors, or DAQ systems.
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
LEVEL 2 - TEST ENGINEER (3–5+ years)
- Experience leading environmental or performance test campaigns (TVAC, vibration, EMI/EMC).
- Strong technical writing and report generation skills.
- Familiarity with LabVIEW, MATLAB, or Python for data processing or automation.
- Experience with failure investigations, root cause analysis, and non-conformance tracking.
- Active DoD clearance or ability to obtain one is a plus.
SENIOR TEST ENGINEER (5–7+ years)
- Familiarity with systems engineering principles and test validation traceability.
- Expertise with data acquisition, test automation, and scripting (LabVIEW, Python, MATLAB).
- Knowledge of test standards such as MIL-STD-810, DO-160, or NASA/DoD specs.
- Experience working in classified or secure test environments.
- Active Secret or Top Secret clearance preferred.
COMPENSATION
- Colorado Base Salary:
- Level 1 Test Engineer: $80,000 - $110,000
- Level 2 Test Engineer: $100,000 - $134,000
- Senior Test Engineer: $125,000 - $170,000
- Equity + Benefits including Health, Dental, Vision, HRA/HSA options, PTO and paid holidays, 401K, Parental Leave
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, location, and experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Work Location—Successful candidates will be located near Denver or Colorado Springs. While we observe a hybrid work environment, some work must be done on site.
