The Test Engineer develops and executes test cases for flight planning software, ensures software quality, and collaborates with engineering teams on Agile projects.
Job Description
How would you like to be part of an integrated, high performing team that contributes to the safety and security of our nation every day? At BAE Systems, you will have the opportunity to work with dedicated and skilled engineers and our customers to deploy and provide operational support of the applications that the USAF relies upon every day to fulfill its mission requirements to support our warfighters and protect our interests at home and abroad. With our robust offering of educational and career development opportunities, your chances to grow are limitless.
BAE Systems is looking for an experienced Systems Test Engineer to support the development and delivery of world class mission planning capabilities. The program is developing tomorrow's technology to enable cutting-edge mission planning for our war fighters. As a part of the team, you will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive test cases to verify and validate the features and functionality of flight planning software on the Mobility Air Force Flight Planning Services (MAFPS) program. A strong desire to build efficiency into the testing process while ensuring bug free software is a must. The team will leverage proven testing products and techniques to thoroughly test the MAFPS applications prior to deployment to operations.
MAFPS incorporates mission, platform, navigation, airspace, weather and other aeronautical data from authoritative sources to generate and visualize 4-D optimized flight plans that adhere to complex global airspace business rules to support the USAF's Air Mobility Command's (AMC) 618th Air Operations Center (AOC) daily worldwide airspace operations. MAFPS is integrated within the US Air Force network and operates 24/7/365. The qualified candidate can work remotely with travel potentially required to the MAFPS primary customer site at Scott AFB, IL or to BAE Systems facilities in San Diego, CA or Fairview Heights, IL.
The primary tasks include the development of software test plans, test procedures, creating test data, evaluating result accuracy, as well as test execution and reporting of all test results for all required test activities. The qualified candidate will also be responsible for developing and executing manual test cases and contributing to regression testing to support DevOps/CI processes. Assigned tasks may also include the development of user stories, backlog prioritization and management, technical documentation, sprint planning and customer engagement. Close interaction with other engineers within and across the scrum teams is required to achieve program objectives. This position may require infrequent business travel to customer locations in support of product demonstrations, test activities and customer meetings. Ability to perform analysis of changes to international airspace and development of data configuration changes for MAFPS airspace to align is also strongly desired.
