Job Summary

Researches, develops, designs, operates, troubleshoots, and implements testing and safety procedures, equipment, and systems for rotating electrical machinery by performing the following duties.

Job Description

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Work to learn and understand functions of internal test programs.
  • Designs and develops new test methods, equipment, and facilities.  Maintain / create documentation to support testing areas, procedures and equipment.
  • Works with or designs and directs personnel in fabrication of test control and monitoring apparatus and equipment, and determines methods, procedures, safety requirements, and other relevant operational conditions for using this equipment when testing products.
  • Performs activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications and customer requirements. Trains personnel as required to run equipment and procedures.
  • This position may have direct reports
  • Advises production teams and test area leadership in maintaining a safe working environment, and operating equipment within the manufacturer’s specifications
  • Work with Manufacturing / Maintenance to troubleshoot production or developmental equipment including drives, motors, generators, factory automation systems, and PLCs.
  • Interface with management, design engineering and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules and other considerations to facilitate production processes.  Supports efforts to ensure safe and dependable factory throughput, and execution of required research and development type efforts and tasks.

Experience/Skills:

  • General demonstratable knowledge of motors, drives, generators, and PLC operation / configuration is required

Education:

  • AS degree in relevant technical field from a 2-year college and 2-4 years of relevant experience is required.  Industry contractor licensing is a plus.  In lieu of a degree, industry recognized contractor’s license plus 3 - 7 years relevant experience as an electrical technician (or similar trade) may be considered as a substitute; alternatively, 5 years relevant internal experience as an Electrical Test Technician may be considered in lieu of a degree.
