How you will create an impact
AIG is seeking a Vice President of Application Engineering to lead our technology transformation. This is a high-impact role within the Global Insurance Technology organization, centered on bridging the gap between complex business strategy and technical execution.
You will ensure our global technology landscape is scalable, simplified, and optimized. You will act as the strategic technical architect of delivery, ensuring every technical initiative translates into measurable business value, aligned to AIG technology standards.
You will be the primary bridge between Solution Architecture, Engineering, and Business stakeholders to ensure technical feasibility and strategic alignment. Translate high-level strategic intent into actionable, high-quality engineering solutions throughout the entire delivery lifecycle. Champion engineering standards that prioritize scalability and efficiency, moving the needle on AIG’s long-term digital vision, including Gen AI. Partner with Technology and Business leadership to navigate the transformation agenda and optimize global outcomes.
- Develop and maintain an aspirational technical architectural road map for the organization, define technology strategy and technical architecture decisions for strategic programs
- Lead and Deliver technical architecture solutions in alignment with GI IT and business objectives
- Leads the end-to-end technical architecture for a region or 1-2 critical business applications or leads a core technical domain architecture areas
- Oversees end-to-end technical architecture for a country's specific applications, or lead technical architecture for several large or mid-sized business applications, or oversee components of Functional or Technical Domain architecture
- Partner with regional stakeholders and governing boards to enforce technical architecture standards
- Drives IT strategy, current, transitional and target state technical architectures and roadmaps for a technical domain across lines of business that align to enterprise, technical and other functional domain standards, including Cloud and hosting, security, data, integration, frameworks, devops, automation, productivity services and tools, application lifecycle services
- Initiate and deliver technology evaluations and recommendations
- Gain Insurance organizational commitment for enterprise level architecture and infrastructure initiatives
- Deploy and maintain the technical architecture repository for technology standards, best practices and tool sets
- Ensure compliance to Enterprise and General Insurance technical architectural standards, policies and practices
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of IT industry best practices, technologies, architectures and emerging technologies
What you'll need to succeed
- 10–15+ years of experience in application engineering and technology management, preferably within large-scale global enterprises or the financial services/insurance sector.
- A strong foundation in modern engineering practices, cloud-native architecture, and the delivery of complex, scalable software systems.
- Proven track record of leading large-scale technology migrations or architectural shifts.
- Exceptional ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical business partners and other senior leaders.
- A disciplined approach to working under tight deadlines and managing high-pressure delivery cycles without sacrificing quality.
- Strong ability to partner with analysis teams to refine business requirements into technical roadmaps. Applying modern engineering standards, cloud-native architectures, and automation to drive performance, reliability, and speed to market. Help foster a culture of learning, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
- Strong understanding of AWS, Azure, Google CLOUD services, and their use in designing secure, scalable application platforms. Working knowledge of Generative AI (preferred) from application and security perspective. Working knowledge of languages, and application Frameworks.
- Hands on experience in open-source code and frameworks, Micro services Architecture, Angular/ React, Java/ J2EE, Relational DBs, NoSQL DBs such as MongoDB. Some development experience preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field.
- Certifications desired, not mandatory – TOGAF, AWS, Leeds, CISSP, CCC, SAFe for architects etc

The base salary range for this position is 120,000-140,000 and the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan. Your actual compensation will be dependent on your skills, experience, and qualifications.
