GENERAL PURPOSE

The Sales Engineer is a technical resource that provides product/solution expertise. Support Tier One-Three Customers, Distribution, End Users, Consultants and National Account Managers integrator technical needs and provide product/solution optimization for strategic customers. In addition to working closely with Product Management and Customers, the role will partner with multiple strategic sales teams in the territory which includes DE, CT, MA, ME, NH, NJ, NY, RI, and VT.

JOB RESPONSIBILITES

  • Deep technical knowledge in Legrand AV Commercial Brands of C2G, Chief, ConnecTRAC, Da-Lite, Luxul, Middle Atlantic, Vaddio and Wiremold
  • Support multiple state sales teams within the region
  • Overlay resource pulled-in to accounts by Account Managers for product / solution specific knowledge
  • Work closely alongside account management team on solution implementation and to resolve any customer issues
  • Educate integrators on new product/solutions specific optimization for strategic customers
  • Onboard and train new strategic integrators
  • Monitor and track solutions / applications within customer’s account, identifying areas for improvement and expansion
  • Evangelize new products both to internal and external customers during customer calls, trade shows and other showcase opportunities
  • Support product management team in launching new products, markets and channels by conducting product training and developing promotion strategies.
  • Meet with customers and internal business teams to understand key business opportunities
  • Create and articulate the vision for new products within established product lines by identifying superior customer value and technological advantages
  • Prioritize product opportunities and market behaviors to influence future development efforts
  • Track competitive products and prepare appropriate competitive strategies to capture additional market share

Job Requirements

Skills & Competencies:

  • Technical Skills: Deep understanding of Legrand product/solution technology requirements
  • Product knowledge: Knowledgeable on products and capable of educating customers
  • Issue Resolution: Proficient in issue diagnostic and resolution
  • Must have the ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues, by using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulation or government law
  • Demonstrated ability to be customer focused and responsive to questions and needs
  • Ability to work in a team environment, and leverage additional resources as needed
  • Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

Minimum Education And Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in sales, marketing, engineering or related technical degree with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in technical sales; or combination of relevant education and experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with specific geographical-based markets in which the position resides
  • Location preference for this role is: DE, CT, MA, ME, NH, NJ, NY, RI, VT
  • Close proximity to major airport
  • Experience using SalesForce.com CRM tool is a plus
  • Previous work experience in areas relevant to the assigned technology
  • MBA or equivalent
  • Experience with and passion for innovative activities and mindsets such as Design Thinking

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to make coordinated movements of the fingers for data entry on a keyboard
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • General (home) office and field sales environment
  • Requires regular ground travel to customer facilities
  • Long-distance or air travel as needed – not to exceed 50% travel
