Title: Senior Data Center Project Manager, Customer Implementation 

The Senior Data Center Project Manager, Customer Implementation is a member of the Service Delivery Customer Implementation team and will assist in the installation of Customer infrastructure within EdgeConneX Data Centers. This position has a hybrid work schedule (working from home and on sites) and requires regular travel up to 70%. The Technical Project Manager reports to the Regional Director, Service Delivery.

Primary Responsibilities

  • This position helps shape long-term product selection, publishes standards strategies, identifies new technologies and drives innovation.
  • Oversees multiple technical customer projects across one of more large project builds from end to end.
  • Serves as team technical lead and mentor to senior and junior team members in the installation of Customer infrastructure, data halls, into ECX sites on time and meeting Customer-defined scope.
  • Serve as team technical lead in the creation of repeatable standards in support of ECX and Customer products including cabinets, cabinet infrastructure, Meet-Me-Room, structured cabling, cross connect, outside and inside plant builds to meet Customer needs.
  • Serve as technical lead representing the team on large scale customer projects during both planning and implementation of Customer infrastructure build requirements.
  • Serve as technical lead in the communication of project deliverables with internal EdgeConneX teams in addition to communicating with end Customers on project status.
  • Works to create, implement and ensure onsite safety protocols are followed, onsite EdgeConneX standards are followed, and general safety practices are adhered to during build of Customer infrastructure within EdgeConneX facilities.
  • Serve as technical lead in identifying new applications and enhancements to existing site build standards and materials.
  • Performs cost-benefit and return on investment analyses for proposed solutions.
  • Lead in creation of team documentation and continual review for effectiveness and efficiency of existing process, systems, products, and materials. Serves as Lead in implementing change strategies.
  • Strong ability to understand Customer deliverables and interpreting into site specific MEP, space, and network connectivity (fiber and copper) needs within EdgeConnex facilities.
  • Lead general contractor and sub-contractor selection, project specific management, creation of and management of schedules and onsite build completion of Customer needs.
  • Assist in other projects as assigned by Regional Director.
  • Ability to travel to sites as required (approximately 60-70%).

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Proactive problem solver with strong attention to detail.
  • Serve as team Lead in recommendations on Customer specific needs in addition to site specific build necessities to support both Customer and EdgeConneX specific needs.
  • Strong and proven communications, both written and verbal, in leading teams and coordinating with peers and other disciplines on driving projects/issues to closure.
  • Proven experience in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of Customer build needs.
  • Work habits must stay organized, independently manage priorities and scheduling, and efficiently work on multiple projects with conflicting deadlines.
  • Strong awareness of responsibilities and sense of accountability.
  • Dedicated and effective team player with the ability to perform the tasks required to get the job done.
  • Ability to grasp the understanding the contractor scope of work and be ready to lend a hand when needed.
  • Ability and willingness to independently and effectively deliver Customer projects of small to large scope across assigned areas to include recommending and delivering new technical solutions when required.
  • Effectively builds and shares competencies as part of their team and work with junior team members to meet Customer outcomes.
  • Proven history of assessing their work at a higher, broader level; takes a holistic perspective and recommends latest industry product trends for future Customer builds.
  • Proven track record working with ambiguity as company and Customer goals or situations change.  Strong record in aiding junior team members in a technical capacity during these situations.
  • Commitment to organizational excellence and constant awareness to seek opportunities to improve processes/quality of deliverables.

Experience/Education

  • 12+ years of experience with MEP and construction, able to read drawings and understand construction tools.
  • 12+ year of experience in working with Data center infrastructure ecosystem encompassing servers, storage, networking equipment, power systems, cooling, security measures, and the infrastructure and software that manages them.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, Technical School degree or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Candidates with field experience and background in construction installation of IT, telecom, data center assets, fiber optics, networking, and gear installation are strongly encouraged to apply.
US Salary Range
$150,000$180,000 USD
