Responsibilities

In this role, you will make an impact at Axios with the following responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate large programs and multi-team initiatives, ensuring alignment with quarterly OKRs and company priorities.
  • Define, track, and communicate program-level goals, milestones, dependencies, and risks.
  • Partner cross-functionally with product, engineering, design, editorial, marketing and revenue teams to ensure smooth execution and delivery.
  • Own and optimize internal systems (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Notion), customizing workflows, automations, and reporting to improve efficiency and visibility.
  • Develop scalable reporting systems and dashboards to enable data-driven decisions by leadership.
  • Coach teams on Agile best practices such as backlog prioritization, story refinement, and sprint hygiene to help teams ship faster and smarter.
  • Proactively identify blockers, resource gaps, or risks, and work to resolve them quickly.
  • Facilitate cross-team coordination, momentum, and accountability across deliverables.
  • Communicate progress, risks, and outcomes clearly to stakeholders, tailoring messaging for executives, technical, and non-technical audiences.
  • Apply AI tools to streamline program management tasks and share workflows with peers to increase team efficiency.

Skills

Ideal candidates will embody an entrepreneurial spirit, a passion for Axios’ mission, and have the following skills:

  • 3–5 years of experience in program or project management, preferably in technology, media, or SaaS.
  • Proven ability to coordinate complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives from planning to delivery.
  • Strong organizational and process-building skills, with experience managing dependencies, risks, and timelines.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to influence and align stakeholders at all levels.
  • Hands-on experience with Jira, Confluence, or similar systems  including administration, customization, and reporting.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies, with the ability to coach teams in best practices.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to build program-level dashboards and track KPIs.
  • Collaborative and proactive, with a bias toward unblocking teams and driving momentum.
  • Fluency with AI tools to accelerate work and improve coordination.

  • Predictable delivery of large initiatives that support Axios’ strategic goals.
  • Clear program visibility for stakeholders through transparent communication and reporting.

  • Effective use of AI to increase speed, clarity, and efficiency in program execution.

Starting salary for this role is in the range of $115,000 - $170,000 and is dependent on numerous factors, including but not limited to location, work experience, and skills. This range does not include other compensation and benefits. Axios' compensation philosophy takes into account cost of labor differentials across the country. Because this is a remote-optional job posting, this salary range takes into account all possible locations within the United States, but candidates will only be eligible for the salary range for their location.
