About the team

Our Developer Platform team is dedicated to enhancing developer experiences. We build an array of tools for both external developers and internal product teams, encompassing APIs, SDKs, CLIs, and web-hooks. This expansive domain spans Stripe's API services, Developer products, and API event management, driving seamless integrations and exceptional user experiences.

What you’ll do

As a Technical Program Manager, you will play a crucial role in advancing Stripe's developer experience initiatives. This position is about more than managing technical programs; it's about driving innovation to enhance our API ecosystems and deliver exceptional value to our users. Strong product sense is required, i.e. you influence the end user experience in a delightful way. You will work on expanding existing external API developments to reach a wider audience, both internally and externally.

In this proactive and independent role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, influencing and aligning with high-level leadership, including C-level executives, to achieve strategic objectives. Success requires a deep understanding of external Developer APIs, API Docs, and SDKs, along with the ability to effectively engage with colleagues in partner teams. Your efforts will be pivotal in streamlining processes and contributing to Stripe's growth, enabling our teams to push the boundaries of developer experience and impact the broader financial infrastructure landscape.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and execute cross-functional programs across engineering divisions.
  • Manage technically demanding programs, leveraging systems and engineering knowledge.
  • Collaborate with Engineering Managers, Product Managers, Product Architects to enhance operational efficiency within teams.
  • Develop, implement, and refine program management frameworks and metrics for goal achievement.
  • Establish and report on program health and success metrics, using data for strategic decision-making.
  • Standardize documentation and project communication processes for consistency and alignment.
  • Leverage data to drive strategic decisions and reporting at the leadership level.
Who you are

We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. 

Minimum requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in software/systems engineering or technical product/program management.
  • Experience in improving developer experience.
  • You are technical and may have worked as a product manager or influenced process/program/product changes broadly at a company level.
  • Proven track record in comprehensive program management across software development phases.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, adept at building strong relationships.
  • Proficient in driving process improvements across diverse teams and functions.
  • Autonomous leader experienced in managing large-scale efforts and global stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in large-scale platforms and organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading global initiatives, building APIs, products, and scalable systems.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
