At E Source, we help utilities make sense of complexity in a rapidly changing landscape, and we're looking for a Technical Consultant to help shape how that impact shows up in the world.

As a Technical Consultant, you'll support complex AMI (advanced metering infrastructure) and utility technology implementations for electric, gas, and water clients. You'll work alongside project managers, solution architects, utility stakeholders, vendors, and implementation partners to help validate that systems and integrations meet requirements, data is accurate and complete, and implementation issues are identified and resolved before they affect operations or customers. The role combines structured testing with hands-on data management and quality assurance. Depending on the engagement, you may help develop test strategies and plans, manage requirements traceability, coordinate and analyze test execution, track defects through resolution, validate AMI and meter-installation data, evaluate system exceptions, and help utility teams establish sustainable data-management processes.

In this role, you will:

  • Support development and execution of AMI test strategies, plans, procedures, test cases, acceptance criteria, and test reports.

  • Coordinate and support testing across bench, system integration, user acceptance/business process, field acceptance, performance, regression, and related implementation phases.

  • Maintain requirements traceability and help ensure business, functional, technical, integration, and performance requirements are validated through appropriate test cases.

  • Document, analyze, track, and help resolve defects and test issues, including root-cause analysis, corrective actions, retesting, and closure.

  • Validate data flows and system integrations to confirm that data is received, transformed, routed, and processed correctly across interconnected utility systems.

  • Perform AMI data-quality and installation-data reviews, including meter and endpoint information, reads, work-order data, photos, and related field records.

  • Analyze operational reports, exceptions, alerts, and data-quality issues, and help utility teams establish ownership, severity levels, escalation processes, and remediation procedures.

  • Support development and refinement of data management plans, operational procedures, reports, training materials, and quality-assurance processes.

  • Provide hands-on coaching and implementation support to client teams responsible for ongoing AMI data management, exception handling, and data-quality activities.

You’re likely a great fit if you:

  • Bring strong analytical skills and enjoy troubleshooting system, interface, data, or business-process issues.

  • Can validate data quality, reconcile information across systems, analyze exceptions, and identify data discrepancies.

  • Work effectively with utility business users, IT/OT teams, software vendors, system integrators, and field contractors.

  • Have strong attention to detail, with the ability to recognize patterns, inconsistencies, and emerging implementation issues.

  • Bring strong documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills, and can manage multiple priorities across concurrent client engagements.

And even better if you:

  • Have experience with SQL or similar data-query tools.

  • Have direct AMI implementation experience.

  • Have working knowledge of utility meter, endpoint, installation, billing, or operational data.

Experience and Skills to Qualify Include:

  • Five or more years of experience supporting utility technology implementations, system testing, data management, quality assurance, or a closely related technical function.

  • Experience with AMI, MDMS, CIS, GIS, work management, customer platforms, or other utility systems.

  • Demonstrated experience developing or executing system, integration, user acceptance, business process, field acceptance, regression, or performance testing.

  • Experience working with requirements, test cases, acceptance criteria, requirements traceability matrices, defect logs, and test results.

  • Proficiency with Excel and other tools used for data analysis, issue tracking, and test management.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
