Job Description:
MarketWatch seeks an ambitious reporter to join its technology team to cover the business interests of Elon Musk, from Tesla to SpaceX, X, Neuralink, Xai and The Boring Company.
Musk is one of the most consequential CEOs of our time. He runs the world’s most valuable automaker, which is competing with rivals in the U.S. and China to dominate the electric-car market. Musk is also at the forefront of entrepreneurial efforts in the space and media industries, while also playing an important role in the AI revolution. In the Trump administration, Musk has played a key role in cutting the government workforce, even as his companies contract with and are regulated by US agencies.

The unifying theme is Musk and the technological innovation that is impacting markets and the economy. It’s a chance to write about rockets, robotaxis and robots.
Keeping on top of developments in several sectors and providing fast-paced analysis on their importance will be crucial. The reporter will also need to be comfortable writing enterprise articles and collaborating with other MarketWatch teams, including our Washington bureau.
Candidates should have experience with business and markets reporting. The role will be based in New York, though other locations will be considered on merit.
