Position Description:
Team Lead – Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) for ADESA, Inc., Carmel, IN.
Lead team and autonomously define and deliver technical roadmaps of larger projects, often involving cross-team dependencies. Work with stakeholders and project managers to prioritize business vision on the Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) roadmap. Manage workload of a team of SREs and assign the right people for each task. Maintain strong understanding of product. Improve systems reliability such as utilization, security, scalability, and efficiency. Improve coding and process automation for mitigating toil. Actively keep customer needs in mind and leverage input from product stakeholders as available to determine the right technical solutions to deliver customer value quickly. Troubleshoot complex system issues impacting reliability. Play a key role in setting medium-to-long term strategy for business-impacting projects. Define the technical roadmap for complex projects, refining it as the projects progress, and provide leadership for the people executing on the project. Define team’s priorities and secure buy-in in partnership with manager. Understand technical strategy. Be the go-to person for any queries about the service and systems supported, including the relevant language or area of the codebase. Identify multiple layers of systems and appropriate tooling for each one. Mentor less-experienced members of the team by helping them with their craft, providing guidance, and setting a good example. Leverage high standard of excellence for work to set and hold the bar for quality and best practices for team of subordinates (e.g. via system design and code reviews). Actively engage in 1-on-1 sessions with teammates and raise any concerns to manager. Represent team's technical challenges to potential candidates in a compelling way (e.g., 1:1 sell chats, blog posts, public speaking). Review candidate's tech tests and contribute conversation points for follow up interviews. Suggest improvements or changes to the hiring process where appropriate. Understand OS or networks, debugging complex issues and identifying major system bottlenecks. Strong understanding of full stack applications and tools to dig deep into system issues. Fully Remote. May work from anywhere in the US.
Requirements:
Master’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field and 1 year of experience as a site reliability engineer or in an occupation performing process automation engineering. Must possess 6 months of experience with each of the following: Operating Systems (OS) or networks, debugging complex issues and identifying the major system bottlenecks; identifying the multiple layers of systems and appropriate tooling for each one; improving systems reliability such as utilization, security, scalability, and efficiency; coding and processing automation for mitigating toil; troubleshooting complex system issues impacting reliability; full stack applications and tools to dig deep into system issues; and Project Timelines.
