Tax Manager - Information Reporting Job Description

In the role of Tax Manager - Information Reporting, you will report to and work directly with the tax Information Reporting and Withholding (IR&W) management team to ensure that the appropriate corporate tax policies, methods, standards, processes, reporting, and training are developed, applied, and understood by impacted partners!

What You Will Accomplish:

  • Review, analyze and implement new information reporting and withholding requirements for Third Party Settlement Organizations (TPSOs) based on section 6050W and section 3406 of the Internal Revenue Code
  • Draft business requirement documents (BRD) for withholding, electronic 1099s and other reporting requirements
  • Work with marketplace/platform BU, legal and privacy, risk and compliance, accounting, product/engineering and other cross-functional teams to capture facts and develop strategies to ensure compliance with IR&W procedures such as withholding and reporting requirements
  • Project manage integration efforts of acquired companies to align their information reporting and withholding processes with eBay’s core processes and identify potential gaps and exposure
  • Identify procedural and systems gaps and differences in reporting procedures between company entities and implement standardization in areas where possible (e.g. Form 1099-K improvements)
  • Partner with teams to optimize tax processes and leverage technology to implement IR&W processes, including Withholding and Crypto.
  • Work with analytics to build reports for forecasting withholding and reporting
  • Analyze information used in the preparation of various information returns and work with third party tax vendors on information returns and data collection
  • Assist with IRS Notices such as CP2100 and taxpayer identification number (TIN) solicitations
  • Review Forms W-9, W-8 BEN / W-8BEN-E, Letter 147C, Letter 685C, and similar documentation
  • Become familiar with all of eBay’s marketplace platforms and the tax information collection experience for each platform
  • Assist IR&W team members as needed

Important: Please note that this role may require the candidate to periodically travel to the office in Runnemede, New Jersey!

You Will Bring:

  • 1+ Years of people leadership / managerial / supervisory experience
  • 5-8 years’ experience with supporting multiple projects simultaneously and building positive relationships with key partners
  • 5-8 years working with IRS Tax Forms (e.g. W-8/W-9) validation is preferred
  • 5-8 years of working experience with Forms 1099-K with specific experience on implementing section 6050W and section 3406 of the Internal Revenue Code for TPSOs is preferred
  • 5-8 years’ experience with US Tax principles is preferred
  • Experience with MS Excel, Google Sheets, MS PowerPoint, Google Slides
  • Clear and concise communication skills
  • Ability to quickly grasp sophisticated tax requirements
  • Ability to communicate tax requirements to other partners
  • Ability to work independently and be a phenomenal teammate

The applicable base pay range for this position is dependent on work location. The base pay range in the San Francisco Bay Area, New York City Metro and Seattle Metro is expected in the range below:

$132,000 - $176,200

The base pay range for all other U.S. work locations is expected in the range below: 

$90,400 - $157,000

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
