Tactical Sales Engineer
About Doodle Labs
Doodle Labs is a fast-growing technology company building high-performance wireless communications for the drone and unmanned systems ecosystem. Our technology enables reliable, high-bandwidth connectivity across airborne and mobile robotic platforms operating in complex environments.
We partner directly with leading drone OEMs, robotics companies, and defense organizations to deliver advanced networking solutions that power the next generation of autonomous systems. Our mission is to make connectivity for autonomous machines as reliable and ubiquitous as the internet itself.
About the Role
The Sales Engineer (Tactical Communications) serves as the technical bridge between Doodle Labs’ advanced wireless networking technology and mission-ready tactical communications systems.
In this role, you will work closely with defense primes, tactical radio integrators, robotics OEMs, and operational end users to support the integration and deployment of Doodle Labs radios across mission-critical applications. These include tactical voice and data networks, unmanned systems communications, LMR interoperability, and mission-critical push-to-talk (MCPTT) deployments.
You will guide customers through technical evaluations, field testing, and operational deployment while solving complex RF, networking, and systems integration challenges. This role sits at the intersection of field engineering, tactical communications expertise, and customer success.
What You’ll Do
- Plan and execute technical demonstrations of Doodle Labs radio systems in customer and operational environments
- Work with customers and partners to define demo scope, configure equipment, and support evaluation activities
- Support field testing, tactical exercises, and platform integrations across air, ground, and maritime systems
- Troubleshoot RF, networking, and interoperability issues across complex tactical communication environments
- Diagnose challenges related to RF propagation, antenna systems, link budgets, and wireless network performance
- Support integration across tactical systems including LMR interoperability, MCPTT deployments, and mesh networking architectures
- Assist customers with network design, configuration, and troubleshooting across IP-based communication systems
- Document lessons learned and contribute to repeatable integration best practices and technical playbooks
- Collaborate with sales, product, and engineering teams to support customer deployments and technical engagements
What Success Looks Like
- Successful integration of Doodle Labs radios into tactical communications systems and unmanned platforms
- Reliable support of field tests, demonstrations, and mission-relevant evaluations
- Rapid identification and resolution of RF, networking, and interoperability challenges
- Strong customer confidence built through hands-on technical expertise and field support
- Clear documentation and communication of integration progress and technical insights
Who You Are
- 3–7+ years of experience in a customer-facing technical role such as Sales Engineering, Field Applications Engineering, Solutions Engineering, or Integration Engineering
- Strong hands-on understanding of tactical radio systems and wireless networking technologies
- Experience working with LMR systems such as P25, DMR, TETRA, or conventional analog radio systems
- Familiarity with mission-critical voice technologies including MCPTT or similar systems
- Strong knowledge of IP networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, routing, VLANs, QoS, multicast, and network diagnostics
- Experience troubleshooting RF propagation, antenna systems, and wireless interference issues
- Familiarity with tactical networking architectures such as MANET, mesh networking, and multi-hop relay systems
- Experience integrating radios into UAV, UGV, vehicle, maritime, or dismounted communications platforms
- Strong communication skills and comfort working in hands-on field environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting DoD programs, defense primes, or DIU initiatives
- Experience working with autonomy OEMs, including drones, ground robotics, or maritime platforms
- Familiarity with field exercises, tactical communications evaluations, or operational demonstrations
