The Production Systems Engineering team is responsible for designing and delivering scalable technical solutions in support of Netflix’s content creation businesses. We excel at delivering thoughtfully designed solutions and take pride in our ability to partner with our cross-functional engineering teams to provide the best possible outcome for our stakeholders. We are seeking a Systems Development Engineer to help design, develop, and deploy solutions that support our colleagues in content production. In this role, you will collaborate with internal product and engineering teams, technical creatives, production teams, and external vendors to deliver and maintain infrastructure and services. You will bring a strong technical foundation and a desire to build scalable, reliable systems.

As a member of the team, you will...

  • Contribute to the design, implementation, and support of services and solutions that improve the experience and productivity for creative content domains (e.g., post-production, animation, visual effects, genAI, virtual production).

  • Work on projects that impact multiple studios and distributed teams across regions.

  • Help automate and develop solutions to enhance the efficiency and resiliency of our systems and services, including hybrid environments.

  • Maintain and extend internal tooling and automation, including configuration management and service-based infrastructure management.

  • Participate in system and infrastructure updates, migrations, on-call rotation, and troubleshooting tasks to maintain system resiliency and performance.

About you

  • You have 3+ years of experience developing, automating, and deploying systems to deliver technology solutions to end-users.

  • You can break down complex systems into their key components and understand their value within the overall solution, from hardware to software.

  • You are passionate about automation, efficiency, and scalability, and strive for operational excellence.

  • You are able to identify valuable opportunities and contribute to their implementation as part of a team.

  • You enjoy collaborating with business and product teams to develop and implement product plans and roadmaps.

  • You use data and analytics to inform your decisions and improve systems.

  • You have experience deploying configuration management across multiple platforms (Linux, Windows, macOS).

Nice to have

  • Experience in VFX, animation, or a similar creative services industry
