Job Description:

This is a hybrid role, requiring presence in our Dublin office three times per week.

The Opportunity:

At Workhuman, we’re on a mission to make work more human by helping organisations celebrate, connect, and empower their people. We're seeking an experienced Systems Architect to join our Product Architecture team and play a pivotal role in shaping the technical foundation of our highly successful SaaS platform.

In this role, you'll bridge Product, Engineering, and Infrastructure teams to design and implement scalable systems that power our platform. You'll collaborate across Product Engineering, Platform Engineering, and Cloud teams to deliver robust technical solutions.

As we continue to invest heavily in AI technology and expand our product capabilities, you'll have the opportunity to architect solutions that balance innovation with reliability, ensuring our infrastructure can support both current demands and future growth. This role is ideal for a strategic technologist who thrives in a collaborative, cross-functional environment and is passionate about building systems that enable cutting-edge AI capabilities at scale.

Architecture Stack :

Cloud, APIs, Microservices, Event-Driven, Messaging, Domain-Driven Design, Data, Security, AI, Productivity App/B2B integrations.

What we can offer you:

  • Own Technical Vision for a Product Domain: Take end-to-end technical ownership of a strategic product area, defining its architectural direction and serving as the go-to technical leader for that domain's evolution and success

  • Shape Product Strategy: Directly influence product roadmap and feature development by providing architectural insights and technical feasibility assessments that guide strategic product decisions

  • Drive Cross-Cutting Technical Excellence: Build deep expertise and set standards for critical architectural concerns spanning Product and Platform teams—including security, scalability, observability, and integrations.

The skills you will bring:

  • At least 8 years of experience working in technology or relevant business

  • Proven experience effectively communicating technical designs and trade-offs to senior leadership and business stakeholders, building trust and securing buy-in for architectural decisions

  • Proven ability to design scalable, resilient distributed systems and make architectural trade-offs that balance performance, maintainability, and time-to-market

  • Deep experience with cloud infrastructure (preferably AWS) and modern cloud-native architectures, including microservices, containerization, and orchestration

  • API & Integration Design: Strong understanding of API design patterns, integration architectures (REST, webhooks, event-driven), and third-party integration best practices

  • Awareness of AI/ML infrastructure requirements, including model serving, data pipelines, and the unique scalability and performance considerations of AI workloads

  • Commitment to continuous learning, experimenting with new technologies, and applying innovative approaches to problem-solving.

Achievements:

  • You have a BS in Computer Science / Software Engineering or equivalent experience.

  • Architected and worked hands-on with teams to deliver a substantial platform capability or system improvement, demonstrating measurable impact on system performance, reliability, or developer productivity

  • Led effective collaboration across Product, Engineering, and Platform teams, enabling the delivery of complex technical initiatives by removing blockers early, aligning architectural decisions, and ensuring smooth execution.

  • Proven ability to balance short-term delivery needs with long-term architectural vision, anticipating future requirements and technical debt implications.
