Roles Summary/Purpose:
Synchrony is hiring an SVP of Strategy – Diversified & Value and Lifestyle to be a strong thought leader who will partner in the development of the growth strategy of the Diversified & Value and Lifestyle business platforms. This individual will collaborate with the Synchrony Executive Leadership Team, the CEO of the Diversified & Value and Lifestyle platforms, individual platform business leaders and other senior GM and functional stakeholders to identify and assess growth opportunities. They will also assist in tackling some of the biggest strategic questions facing the firm, the business platforms and the industry.
Synchrony is a premier financial services and technology company focusing on providing wing-to-wing credit solutions to our business partners and the end consumer. It is the largest underwriter of Private Label Credit Cards in the United States.
This role reports to the SVP of Platform Strategy and Networks and will focus on both the broader annual strategic planning process as well as growth initiatives for the Diversified & Value and Lifestyle platforms.
Essential Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the Synchrony Executive Leadership Team, Diversified & Value and Lifestyle CEO and business leaders to identify and assess growth and new business opportunities to accelerate growth for the platforms
Drive the vision of the competitive landscape and trends on Diversified & Value and Lifestyle with recommended strategies across large integrated partners and a fragmented dealer base as well as across multiple products
Ensure the annual Diversified & Value and Lifestyle strategic plans align with the long-term strategy for the broader organization
Work with the Diversified & Value and Lifestyle senior leadership team to translate strategies into targeted actions and programs that result in growth
Partner with M&A, Ventures and other stakeholders to define and execute an aligned acquisition / partnership strategy
Lead and deliver other key projects as requested
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree and 10+ years of experience in management consulting and/or financial services/payments/consumer finance space; in lieu of completed degree, must have HS diploma/GED with 15+ years of experience in management consulting and/or financial services/payments/consumer finance space
Minimum of 5 years of relationship management and leadership experience, including working with cross-functional business partners and senior leadership
Minimum 3+ years of direct team leadership experience
Experience leveraging strong quantitative skills and creating data-driven recommendations
Proficient in the use of MS Office product suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint
Willingness to travel up to 20%
Desired Characteristics:
Strategy consulting work experience with at least 5 years at a leading management consulting firm or as part of an in house strategy team
Strong preference for location commutable to Stamford, CT or NYC
Experience in Financial Services, specifically consumer financing / loans / credit cards, is preferred but not required
Excellent influencing skills and ability to drive change
Demonstrated leadership ability including effective team management and experience “managing up”
Flexible, collaborative approach and positive attitude
Entrepreneurial mindset and willingness to voice unpopular opinions if they are the right approach for the business
Project management skills with ability to manage multiple programs through a team-based approach in a fast-paced environment
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with exceptional presentation skills and high emotional intelligence
Experience working with and presenting to senior executives across the organization
MBA preferred
Grade/Level: 15
The salary range for this position is 200,000.00 - 330,000.00 USD Annual. This position is also eligible for an Annual Incentive Plan target of 25% of salary and an Annual Equity target of 25% of salary.
Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.
Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.
Eligibility Requirements:
You must be 18 years or older
You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
