At LPL Financial, we are seeking an SVP, Risk Management.  This position will report to the firm’s Chief Risk Officer and Head of Business Operations and will sit within LPL’s Risk, Operations, Compliance, and Transformation organization which is comprised of over 1,300 frontline staff responsible for delivering exceptional day-to-day support, guidance and protection to LPL’s network of independent advisors, institutions, enterprises, business owners and staff, so they can take care of their clients. 

This SVP role will serve as an executive leader and provide general risk management oversight, leading functions that define the firm’s risk framework, including second-line oversight of the Investment Product portfolio, our Technology and Information security functions and the use of AI. This SVP will champion and drive change across the risk organization and be responsible for partnering with all aspects of firm-wide risk. A further breakdown of these responsibilities is as follows:

  • Accountable for the execution and continued enhancement of LPL’s risk-management framework, including its risk-appetite statement and related processes to achieve its short-term and long-term strategic, financial, and operational goals.
  • Develops a deep understanding of, and assists in informing, LPL’s business strategies and related policies, processes, and controls based upon its established risk appetite.
  • Oversight of the Investment Product portfolio, partnering with our Product teams to provide oversight and partnership to manage and monitor investment product risk through due diligence, product approval and ongoing product monitoring processes
  • Oversight of the firm’s Technology Risk, including Information Security and Artificial Intelligence
  • Participates in various other management-level committees to provide risk-based perspectives and input.
  • Develop and enhances risk management-related infrastructure, including policies, processes, procedures, and documentation to continue supporting LPL’s growth and decision-making.
  • Oversees LPL’s firm-wide risk assessment to identify and measure current and forward-looking enterprise risks.
  • Monitors external environment and industry trends and practices and makes recommendations to LPL’s executive management, as appropriate.
  • Leads the identification of, and planning for, emerging risks.
  • Develops strong partnerships with leaders of various functional areas of responsibility within LPL to provide effective and creditable challenge in assessing risk and to provide trusted practical advice and assistance in helping to support LPL’s business objectives.
  • Collaborate closely with the Chief Risk Officer in ensuring consistent application of LPL’s risk framework.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in risk management roles within financial services, preferably broker dealers
  • A motivated self-starter with entrepreneurial spirit who can work both autonomously and collaboratively
  • Strong strategic agility and operational excellence
  • Extremely detail-oriented with a high level of commitment and follow-through; ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently with minimal supervision
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences
  • High EQ, collegial and inclusive approach
  • Direct experience preparing executive-level presentations; Formal experience with strategic planning preferred
  • Ability to challenge the status quo and open to change, excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to influence others

Preferences:

  • Extensive experience in owning technology and investment product portfolios
  • Strong analytical skills with proven ability to evaluate business opportunities and results against established objectives
  • Expert consensus-builder who drives change across initiatives within and outside direct accountability; facilitates critical thinking to create solutions for the most complex business challenges
  • Experience collaborating with Compliance, Operations, and Business teams

Pay Range:

$167,500.00 - $279,100.00
 
Actual base salary varies based on factors, including but not limited to, relevant skill, prior experience, education, base salary of internal peers, demonstrated performance, and geographic location. Additionally, LPL Total Rewards package is highly competitive, designed to support your success at work, at home, and at play – such as 401K matching, health benefits, employee stock options, paid time off, volunteer time off, and more.
