Position Title & Overview:

As the Senior Vice President (SVP) of Engineering at Mediavine, you will serve as a critical member of the executive leadership team, reporting directly to the CEO. In this role, you will oversee the strategic direction and operational excellence of our Engineering department. We are looking for a visionary leader who can drive innovation, build scalable systems, foster a culture of collaboration, and align engineering efforts with the company’s long-term goals.

The SVP of Engineering will lead a growing team of engineers, partnering with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver impactful, data-driven solutions that fuel Mediavine’s growth and maintain its reputation for technical excellence.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute an engineering strategy aligned with Mediavine’s business objectives, ensuring scalability, innovation, and operational efficiency
  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing team of engineers and engineering managers, cultivating a collaborative, inclusive, and innovative culture
  • Oversee the delivery of scalable, secure, and reliable software solutions, ensuring the effective execution of product roadmaps in collaboration with Product and Support teams
  • Establish and track engineering KPIs to measure performance, system reliability, and team productivity, using insights to drive continuous improvement
  • Partner with the executive team to develop long-term engineering goals, operational budgets, and resource allocation plans
  • Drive technical vision and direction, ensuring Mediavine remains at the forefront of industry trends and emerging technologies
  • Lead Mediavine’s infrastructure and platform strategies to support growth, ensuring optimal performance and cost-effectiveness
  • Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts for tools, software, and services critical to engineering operations
  • Represent the Engineering team in executive and cross-functional leadership meetings, advocating for resources and driving alignment on company priorities
  • Availability to travel to on-site locations for team retreats, leadership meetings and the annual all hands events approximately 25% of the time

Requirements

Location:

  • Applicants must be based in the United States

You Have:

  • 15+ years of progressive engineering experience, including 10+ years in leadership roles within software development or technical operations
  • Proven success managing engineering organizations of 40+ team members in a remote or distributed environment
  • Expertise in designing, building, and scaling complex technical systems, including backend infrastructure, frontend platforms, and cloud infrastructure management
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional collaboration, delivering impactful results through alignment and partnership with stakeholders
  • Strong leadership qualities, including emotional intelligence, servant leadership, and a focus on mentorship and team development
  • Experience with financial oversight, including developing and managing multi-million-dollar budgets
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to diverse audiences, including executives and non-technical stakeholders
  • Deep understanding of privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and security best practices, ensuring compliance across all systems
  • Proven track record of balancing strategic vision with operational execution, delivering on short-term goals while preparing for future growth
  • A passion for fostering an inclusive, innovative culture that supports employee development and long-term retention
  • Availability to travel to on-site locations for team retreats, leadership meetings and the annual all hands events approximately 25% of the time

At Mediavine, base salary is one part of our competitive total compensation and benefits package and is determined using a salary range.  Individual compensation varies based on job-related factors, including business needs, experience, level of responsibility and qualifications. The base salary range for this role at the time of posting is $300,000 - $325,000  USD/yr.
