Hyster-Yale Materials Handling, Inc. (HYMH), a global manufacturer of industrial forklift trucks, is currently accepting applications for the Summer 2026 Internship Program. This internship is intended for engineering students seeking practical experience in project work within the organization. We’re seeking applicants who demonstrate strong teamwork capabilities, as well as advanced problem-solving and technical engineering expertise. 

Where you'll go: 

  • Greenville, NC 

 

What you could do: 

  • Assist with the development and validation of truck systems, including defining requirements and supporting testing. 

  • Help ensure regulatory compliance and participate in benchmarking against competitor products. 

  • Support manufacturing and production processes, including resolving issues and helping with builds. 

  • Document project progress and maintain organized records of test results and updates. 

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and operational efficiency projects. 

  • Maintain lab equipment and perform hands-on lab testing and audits. 

  • Collaborate with engineering teams and gain knowledge through training and mentorship. 

  • Gain hands-on experience with design, electrical systems, and assembly using 3D modeling software. 

 

What you will need: 

  • Enrollment in a bachelor's program focused on one of the below programs: 

    • Mechanical Engineering 

    • Electrical Engineering 

    • Computer Engineering

    • Equivalent programs will also be considered 

  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills 

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) 

  • Drive to learn  

 

What you will participate in: 

Alongside hands-on experience in their specific functional areas, interns are required to complete roughly 20 program hours. This involves participation in: 

  • Professional Development Courses: Interns will have access to a wide variety of training videos and courses, with encouragement to complete modules that support their growth. 

  • Career Coaching Sessions: Interns can connect one-on-one with members of the HYMH Talent Acquisition team for personalized career coaching and guidance. 

  • Business Acumen Sessions: A series of sessions focused on building company knowledge and supporting personal and professional development. 

  • Networking Events: Opportunities to connect with fellow interns and company leadership through both in-person and virtual events. 

  • Site Tours: Interns will have the chance to tour different company locations to broaden their understanding of the business and explore potential career paths. 

  • Final Experience Presentation: At the end of the program, interns will present their experience to peers and leaders across the Americas division, providing valuable exposure and reflection.
