About the role

As a Strategic Sourcing Manager, you will develop and execute sourcing strategies across key spend categories, leading competitive events, negotiations, and supplier governance initiatives that deliver measurable value. You will partner cross-functionally with Legal, Finance, and business stakeholders to optimize supplier performance, manage risk, and ensure policy compliance.

In this role, you will primarily support the People organization—covering HR technology, talent acquisition tools, benefits administration, learning platforms, and workforce management solutions. We are also open to candidates with experience in adjacent categories, including technology, marketing services, or professional services, particularly for peers supporting similar stakeholder groups.

You will manage sourcing initiatives across a $25M+ annual portfolio, drive negotiation planning, and contribute to category optimization efforts that improve operational efficiency and supplier outcomes. Through data-driven decision making and structured deal governance, you will directly support Zillow’s cost optimization and growth objectives.

You Will Get To
  • Lead sourcing events and negotiations across assigned categories (>$25M annual value), including People/HR technology and related services.

  • Drive negotiation planning and stakeholder alignment for renewals, new initiatives, and competitive events.

  • Partner with Legal, Finance, FP&A, and business leaders—including People org stakeholders—to execute structured agreements and manage risk.

  • Build supplier relationships that optimize value, service levels, and enterprise risk across your category portfolio.

  • Identify cost savings, supplier consolidation, and performance improvement opportunities through spend analysis and market benchmarking.

  • Support Supplier Business Reviews, scorecarding, and governance processes in partnership with senior sourcing leaders.

  • Provide sourcing roadmap updates and category insights to business stakeholders and procurement leadership.

  • Support M&A integration efforts within your assigned portfolio as needed.

This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 United States, with limited exceptions.

In California, Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC the standard base pay range for this role is $90,900.00 - $145,100.00 annually. This base pay range is specific to these locations and may not be applicable to other locations. In Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Minnesota, Nevada, Ohio, Rhode Island, and Vermont the standard base pay range for this role is $86,300.00 - $137,900.00 annually. The base pay range is specific to these locations and may not be applicable to other locations.

In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location. Employees in this role will not be paid below the salary threshold for exempt employees in the state where they reside.

Who you areRequired
  • 5+ years of progressive strategic sourcing or procurement experience, ideally with ownership of People/HR, technology, marketing, or professional services categories.

  • Demonstrated success leading RFx processes, negotiations, and structured contract agreements independently.

  • Strong understanding of total cost of ownership and supplier risk management principles.

  • Experience using sourcing and contract management platforms (e.g., ZIP, Ironclad, Ariba, or similar).

  • Strong analytical and process management mindset, with the ability to translate spend data into actionable insights.

  • Executive-ready communication skills with ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders, including VP-level business partners.

  • Highly adaptable, organized, and solutions-oriented; comfortable operating with autonomy in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred
  • Experience with People/HR technology suppliers such as HCM, ATS, payroll, benefits, or learning platforms (e.g., Workday, Greenhouse, Cornerstone, or similar).

  • Alternatively, experience in technology (SaaS, cloud, data), marketing services (agencies, media), or professional services categories.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Finance, or related field.

  • Certifications such as Lean Six Sigma, PMP, CPSM, CPM, CSP, or APICS equivalent.

  • Proficiency with Excel and data visualization tools (Tableau or PowerBI) for sourcing performance reporting.

  • Experience in regulated industries such as mortgage, title, escrow, or banking is a plus.
